The Office of Human Resources at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeing a Human Resources Generalist, Learning & Development (L&D) who will be a part of a customer-focused Client Services Team and will provide direct support to assigned client groups in all matters related to the full employee life cycle.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Sr HR Business Partner and Talent Management Lead, the Human Resources Generalist, Learning & Development (L&D) will be a part of a customer-focused Client Services Team and will provide direct support to assigned client groups in all matters related to the full employee life cycle.
The HR Generalist will guide and assist assigned client groups in implementing effective human resource strategies to support overall organizational objectives. In addition to promoting positive employee relations through design, communication and interpretation of human resources policies and programs, and maintaining compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, the incumbent will work under the Talent Management Lead to build and execute the Learning & Development Strategies for the Office of Human Resources.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learning & Development
Client Services
Execute key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal employee support, and drive HR functional excellence and process improvement Provide counsel, coaching and support on HR fundamentals to management and employees on employee relations matters Coach managers in recruiting and staffing and employee engagement and development Support communication and administration of Human Resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field or equivalent in education, training and experience Three years of experience as an HR Coordinator, HR Generalist, or related role and at least one year of experience in a role that required facilitating training.The candidate must have the following skills:
Be able to demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, communication skills, be detail-oriented, self-motivated and capable of working under tight deadlines. Must have strong initiative and judgment skills, knowledge of human resources programs, understanding of applicable laws and regulations, must have the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times and be customer service driven with commitment to exceptional quality. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to quickly learn systems, processes and procedures, work efficiently in a complex environment and be a team player with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships. Strong presentation skills. Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives. Ability to design and implement effective training and development. Some knowledge of Learning & Development or training functions. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software with the ability to learn new technology.Preferred Qualifications:
