Summary
As a key contributor to GFL Environmental Services, the HR Generalist will support employment programs and initiatives across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. This role combines operational HR support with opportunities to drive process improvements, contributing directly to organizational success. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of HR practices. Key Responsibilities
Foster positive employee relations through engagement, communication, and problem-solving initiatives.
Provide expert advice on policies, legislation, and employee relations to support operational goals.
Conduct objective investigations to resolve employee relations issues effectively.
Enhance performance by identifying challenges, proposing solutions, and coaching managers and employees.
Offer confidential and balanced guidance to operations leaders on sensitive employee matters.
Build trust with client groups to ensure the successful implementation of HR programs.
Analyze and support HR metrics to drive informed decision-making.
Lead HR projects and oversee all aspects of employee orientation.
Administer group benefits and RRSP plans.
Advise on payroll manners.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience.
Post-secondary education in Human Resources; CPHR designation is an asset.
Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Strong leadership, teamwork, and results-oriented skills.
Advanced knowledge of employment legislation with the ability to resolve matters independently.
Ability to travel as required.
Exceptional multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Attention to detail and adaptability in high-pressure situations.
