The HR Generalist will support various aspects of Human Resources as part of the Midwest-West (MWW) HR team. The position will report to the Human Resources Director for our region and will work collaboratively with the region to assist with the execution on the human capital elements of our business strategy. The HR Generalist is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the Human Resources management function. This includes serving as the point person for HR related issues and inquiries from managers and employees.
The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent organizational, project management and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of HR operations. They will also need experience with HR systems (ideally Workday) and Microsoft Office applications.
Job Duties:
Serve as the main point of contact for general HR inquiries including but not limited to policies, employee data, benefits, HR systems and providing top-notch support to our employees and business leaders.Address business challenges by presenting data driven recommendations through the use of reports and metrics.Coordinate and facilitate employee on-boarding and off-boardingManage the entry of tasks within the human capital management system (Workday) such as compensation, employee termination, job changes, and other related transactions as may be assignedSystem administration and updates – Update and review the human capital management system (Workday) and other systems to ensure data is accurate and that employee changes are approved and processed efficiently and in a timely manner. Follow through promptly on employee and leader requests and inquiries.Engagement – Support and drive local initiatives and identify opportunities to build on our thriving community at HUB. Coordinate local engagement events such as Employee Appreciation Day and our Annual Holiday Party.Employee relations and advocacy- Advise managers and employees to resolve employee relations issues including coaching, researching/investigating situations and recommending business driven, proactive, and inclusive solutions.Track employee referral bonuses and submit to payroll for timely paymentProblem-solve using logic, reasoning, collaboration, and solid HR skills to resolve difficult employee situationsFoster a culture of teamwork and respect through effective coaching and implementation of Company standards and guidelinesProvide specific deliverables such as weekly reports and strategic plansSuccessfully manage multiple competing priorities and simultaneous projects with aggressive timelinesDirectly support assigned practice area(s) with HR mattersSupport the HR Leader’s efforts to work with managers and employees to address and resolve human resources matters through day-to-day guidance on performance management (coaching, counseling, development, effective documentation, and disciplinary actions)Qualifications:
Must have 2-5 years of Human Resources experience in an internal client facing roleBachelor’s degree preferredProfessional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society of Human Resource Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation desirableInsurance industry experience preferred, but not requiredProven ability to work with remote locationsExceptional organizational skills, and very high attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines without compromising qualityExcellent time management with a high sense of urgency and a proven ability to meet deadlinesThe ability to maintain confidentiality and use the utmost discretion and use sound judgement in sensitive situationsProficient in using HR systems (Workday preferred) and tools, developing and facilitating presentations, and comfortable with public speakingTrack record of developing and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with clients at all levels of the organizationExcellent initiative and intuitivenessBe a positive ambassador for the company and promote good-will in the region and the organizationStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and OutlookMust have the ability to travel up to 10% of the time, with pockets of additional travelTo perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The expected salary range for this position is $75,000-85,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
