Human Resources Generalist/Benefits Administrator

This position is responsible for benefit administration and general human resources administration for the organization, under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and Vice President of Human Resources. The incumbent will possess meticulous attention to detail, be a self-starter who sets priorities, has strong organizational skills, is customer-focused, manages their own work, and meet objectives, and most importantly can maintain confidentiality and handle matters with a high level of discretion and integrity.

Requirements

Benefits Administration

Administers all employee benefits programs, including health and dental insurance, vision, life, disability, and accident insurance, voluntary benefits, 401(k), COBRA, vacations and sick time, FMLA, TCI, and other leaves, discount programs, and statutory benefits. Works with third-party administrators as necessary. This includes adding new members, terminations, and changes.Processes required documents through payroll and benefits providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper      deductions and reconciles monthly billing; resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives or through the benefits broker.Manages the open enrollment period during each year, including employee meetings.Serves as the COBRA Administrator for the organization.Provide guidance and assistance to employees and management relative to the company’s benefits programs, policies, and procedures and provide benefit orientation to employees.Participates in meetings with the benefit brokers, and makes recommendations on plan design and changes to the Human Resources Manager and VP of HR.Administers the wellness program.Administers unemployment, TDI, and workers' compensation claims and prepares related reports.

General Human Resources

Responsible for the onboarding process, ensuring all required documentation and training take place and maintaining the highest standards of quality control and efficient communication with managers and other HR staff. Enter information for new employees, terminations, employee status changes, etc. into Paylocity, HRIS as applicable.Interfaces with Payroll, Rewards & Recognition Coordinator on maintenance of employee files and employee status changes to ensure an accurate and timely payroll.Reports information to the Human Resources Manager and the VP of HR. Interfaces with employees to answer questions or address concerns and refers employee relations issues to the Human Resources Manager and VP of HR.

Administration:

Administrative functions include filing and new hire packets.Completes various external reporting.Assists as needed with 5500 filings for health plan and 401(k).Works with the safety department to complete the annual OSHA reporting.Administers the E-Verify program.Participates on employee committees and helps plan and coordinate employee activities.Leads Achieve Health & Wellness Committee and initiativesMaintains current knowledge of employment practices, evaluates existing policies, procedures, processes, and programs for effectiveness, and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate.Works well independently as well as a strong team player.Acts as backup to the Payroll Coordinator.Other duties and special projects as required.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Associate’s degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree or/and Human Resources certification preferred.3-5 years of human resources generalist experience.Experience administering employee benefit programs and working with payroll/HRIS systems.High level of customer service orientation and exceptional interpersonal skills.Experience with Paylocity a plus.Current knowledge of appropriate federal, state, and local employment laws.Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proven administrative (typing, data entry, filing, etc.) and analytical (working with spreadsheets and/or various reports) skills needed.Knowledge of HR policies and procedures.Must be extremely well organized and methodical in approach to problem-solving.Has a positive can-do approach and can be flexible to change. Able to handle challenging confidential situations with the utmost professionalism, discretion, objectivity, and a calm temperament.
