Human Resources Graduate Assistant
Position: Graduate Assistant, Human Resources Status: Part-time, (20hrs/week) Department: Human Resources Reports to: Director of Human Resources Start Date: Fall Semester 2025 Compensation: Stipend, Room, and Tuition Stipend is $5000/semester and tuition scholarship is 100%, but students are responsible for program fees, including textbook fees charged each semester, and meals during residencies. Position Description: The Human Resources Graduate Assistant position will provide administrative support to the Human Resources department, assisting with recruitment processes, managing onboarding procedures, and potentially contributing to HR projects, while gaining practical experience in the field. Duties & Responsibilities: + Coordinate with departmental hiring managers regarding job descriptions for position vacancies. + Assist in recruiting efforts by posting position vacancies, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews. + Support the hiring process by processing new hire documents, scheduling background checks, and aiding in the onboarding of new employees to the college’s HR/Payroll platform. + Process new MVR Requests and update the college’s approved driver roster as applicable. + Assist in employee benefits administration, including open enrollment meetings. + Assist in the coordination of employee training programs. + Provide support during the offboarding of employees when appropriate. + Provide feedback or suggestions for continuous improvement of human resources procedures. + Support daily office functions as needed, including driving vans to support academic programming, or assigned by the Director of Human Resources and/or Human Resources Generalist. Qualifications and Preferences: + Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution and enrollment in Paul Smith’s College Master’s degree programs. + Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community. + Demonstrated experience working with personnel information of a sensitive nature and adhering to confidentiality standards. + Superior organizational skills, including managing multiple tasks at once and strong attention to detail. + Strong computer and data entry skills, including working with databases and learning new software. + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel. + Excellent communication skills including public speaking: over the phone, in person, and written communications. + Ability to effectively communicate with College community and the public to professionally represent the principles of the PSC. + Driver’s license and driving record acceptable to PSC insurance carrier is preferred.
