Schnabel is a leader in specialty design-build underground construction. We are looking for a Human Resources Intern to work in our Corporate office in Sterling, VA. This person will report directly to the Director of HR but will assist the other arms of the department as necessary. The main responsibilities will include talent acquisition, employee engagement, data entry, and organization of employee files.
You will be immersed in a corporate office structure and have tangible responsibilities that positively impact the company. You will learn new skills and sharpen existing ones.

You will have a mentor that will dedicate their time to your development and to answer any questions that come up during your internship. During the summer you will also participate in a soft skills training, several webinars, and an end of summer report detailing everything you’ve learned.
The Work:
Our typical scope of work includes installation of soldier piles, micropiles, lagging, walers, tiebacks, and braces for support of excavation projects. We also take on challenging projects with underpinning, grouting, tunneling, and unique structural support as part of our scope. Our projects are open to the elements and as such can be dirty, muddy, cold, and wet. Safety is important on our projects, so you would be required to wear all appropriate safety gear when visiting active jobsites.
Job Responsibilities
Support HR Team with HR related tasks, such as managing employee files, making recruitment calls, responding to internal questions or complaints, and other tasks as needed.Assist in performing a variety of administrative tasks, requiring a high level of discretion and confidentiality.Employee relations and assisting with the development of new initiatives.Data entry and creating charts/reports to show activity and results from HR related initiatives.Research and data gathering on HR related topics.Event coordination and creating surveys for field and office staff.
Qualifications
Actively pursuing a career in Human Resources.Actively enrolled in or completion of a Human Resources or related degree program.Valid Driver’s License and Reliable Transportation.Must be at least 18 years of age.
