Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Human Resources Manager, we’ll count on you to perform various tasks in employee relations, new hires/recruiting, staff training, general HR functions, and administrative functi

Employee Relations

• Ensure the fair and consistent application of our policies and procedures, addressing questions, including those of moderate complexity

• In consultation with the Regional HR Business Partner, handle general employee relations and performance management questions or issues

• Assist staff in accessing benefits and navigating benefits system, with enhanced assistance provided during leaves of absence and accommodation requests

• Prepare and coordinate performance improvement plans for area staff, coordinating with supervisors, managers and Regional HR Business Partner or Corporate Employee Relations, Diversity and Inclusion department

• Oversee/drive annual performance and development plan review process

• Participate in the investigation and resolution of employee concerns and complaints in coordination with the Regional HR Business Partner to help ensure a healthy work environment

• Prepare, oversee and manage Affirmative Action Plans for area locations, and identify and engage in outreach initiatives

• Work to ensure our culture is inclusive by developing and embracing the contributions and uniqueness of each individual, regardless of the many facets of our backgrounds that contribute to who we are

• Ensure all personnel activities are conducted in order to grant equal access in all phases of the employment process

• Perform other duties as needed

New Hires/Recruiting

• In coordination with HDR recruiters, assist with the hiring process, inputting and tracking requisitions from inception to completion

• Create employment requisitions for hiring managers, coordinate interview schedules, make candidate travel arrangements, track decisions of hiring managers on résumés, develop annual recruiting plans, and coordinate immigration information with Immigration Coordinator as needed

• Facilitate interviews for exempt-level technical staff, participating as requested or necessary based on the requirements of the open position and managers

• Lead local selection process for non-exempt or entry-level exempt staff as needed

• Oversee/lead intern recruiting program in partnership with technical staff as needed

• Lead local employee onboarding and termination activities

• Perform other duties as needed

Staff Training

• Oversee basic and intermediate training of new supervisors around issues of staff management, yearly reviews and leadership

• Coordinate office training with the Regional HR Business Partner and participate in the development of brown-bag seminars and other local training activities for managers

• In coordination with the Regional HR Business Partner, develop and/or present a variety of training programs within area as needed

General HR Functions

• Use corporate HRIS systems to maintain employee records and process personnel actions

• Oversee the completion of employee paperwork to corporate office

• Review and analyze employee HRIS system queries periodically for accuracy of information

• Plan staff meetings within office in conjunction with Area Manager

• Coordinate requested compensation market studies with managers, the Regional HR Business Partner, and corporate HR

• Oversee local wellness activities (flu shots, health fairs, health club discount programs, etc.), including participation in monthly wellness meetings

• Understand basic HDR benefit plan provisions, assist with employees’ benefit-related questions of moderate complexity, and refer complex questions to Corporate HR

• Perform other duties as needed

Administrative Functions

• Coordinate, develop and administer departmental administrative policies and procedures

• Take responsibility for all office administrative operations

• Assist the Area Manager with personnel administration, executive administrative support, and preparation of operating plans, salary plans, and other special reports

• Interview and supervise all administrative support personnel

• Schedule and coordinate interviews, presentations, meetings, training sessions and conference calls

• Perform new employee orientations and facilitate human resources activities for the department, providing guidance to employees as necessary

• Coordinate employee onboarding and termination activities as needed

• Plan and direct service anniversary celebrations with department manager

• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degreeA/E or construction industry experiencePHR, SHPR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certificationRequired Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years' Human Resources experienceDiscretion and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive informationStrong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and various managers in a fast-paced environmentHigh proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word and ExcelExcellent verbal and written communication and strong client service abilityStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationshipsExperience leading and attending performance conversationsAbility to facilitate employee trainingSelf-motivated, well-organized and detail-orientedAbility to travel 15% of the timeAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
