We have an employment opportunity for a Human Resources Manager candidate at the Montgomery, Alabama location. Responsibilities
Manage all functional areas within the Human Resources Department to include employee relations, salary administration, performance management, payroll, benefits, training, and staffing. Develop, implement, and manage company policies and procedures. Keep plant management team abreast of changes in company policies, employment law, and ensure legal compliance. Make recommendations that encompass trends and new developments within the Human Resources function. Work independently and make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization. The Human Resources Manager reports directly to the Human Resources Director with a strong dotted-line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.
Ensure Berry Global employee relations principles are properly communicated and understood.Interpret, apply, and align business goals to Human Resources policies.Manage recruitment, compensation, diversity, performance management, employee training, and development programs.Partner with the union on employee relations issues and contract negotiations.Participate and lead employee improvement teams to promote positive employee relations; promote and encourage employee participation in safety programs, event planning, and committees.Develop, coordinate, and conduct Human Resources training programs and initiatives.Administer and assist employees with annual benefits open enrollment.Assist Plant Manager and Human Resources Director as necessary and requested.Manage the performance management process, variable compensation process, and salary review process.Manage payroll and Human Resources automated systems (i.e., Oracle, Kronos, JDE, Infinium).Represent company in unemployment insurance claims, appeals, and hearings.Manage Human Resources data retention and records management processes. Provide support for Human Resources activities such as continuous improvement initiatives, employee engagement activities, affirmative action plan, integration, acquisitions, and staffing.Act as coach/counsel at all levels in the organization.Perform other tasks as assigned or required. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in related field; Masters Degree preferred; PHR or SPHR certification a plus.Seven years of progressive Human Resources experience in a manufacturing setting; experience in a union facility preferred.Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong analytical skills; strategic thinker.Preferably fluent in ENGLISH and SPANISH (bilingual); ability to translate speech and documents; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to coach managers, supervisors, and employees through complex, difficult, and emotional situations.Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications; ability to learn and operate Oracle, Kronos, JDE, Infinium, and other business management software. Demonstrate group presentation skills to large audiences.Ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. Able to work independently and in group settings.Prior management/supervisory experience required.Ability to adhere to Berry Global’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards. Primarily a day shift office position with a flexible work schedule; engage employees on the production floor. Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted. Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask.Ability to travel.
