Position onsite at our Headquarters in New York City.

This role will focus on HR Operations implementing and executing on HR programs, policies, and processes, comp & benefits, HRIS, leave administration, worker’s comp, compliance and employee relations.

Expectations will include union relations; building and maintaining strong relationships with union representatives to minimize labor relations issues.

They will oversee and manage all grievances, experience this area is required.

MSA Security, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring a Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager role is both hands-on and strategic in that this person provides both day to day HR support to employees across the company, while also providing project management and support to Human Resources initiatives. This role is critical in executing company-wide projects, managing change, and driving process improvements while providing superior customer support. This role requires someone who has a strong HR foundational understanding along with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time. The individual will support executives, managers, and non-exempt employees with policy interpretation, compensation, engagement, conflict resolution, etc. The ideal candidate will have had experience dealing with non-exempt employees in a service industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Address employee issues by working with the appropriate supervisor/manager to identify possible solutions and coach/counsel both on potential next stepsSupport change management initiatives by drafting communications, identifying potential barriers, seeking input from impacted stakeholders, and coaching leadersProvide coaching, counsel, and direction to business leaders in areas including conflict resolution, performance management, employee relations, labor relations, professional development, compensation, recognition, etc.Own major end-to-end processes and events on a project, take initiative, and use problem solving skills to think beyond the task to the outcome that needs to be achievedWork closely across HR and other departments to build processes that allow changes to have the least amount of impact on our field employeesSupport leaders and managers who oversee union employees, ensuring the CBA is understood and being followed, and helping to resolve differences in interpretationIndependently gather information from a variety of sources; analyze, interpret, and summarize data gathered, and eventually deliver insights that allow business decisions to be madeProvide leadership thoughts and ideas on DEI initiatives and ways to improve both the environment and the representation within the organizationEstablish partnerships and consult with key business stakeholders and HR team members to foster teamwork, collaboration, and learning within the HR team, contributing to a positive work environmentSupport management in dealing with compensation and other recognition programs to help drive business resultsWorking with HR partners and Operations, diagnose supervisor skill gaps and identify possible training solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree in business, Human Resources or related field of studyMinimum of seven (7) years of HR experience, dealing with employee issues and managing initiativesPrior experience working in a union environmentExperience driving effective change management techniques and implementation including communications plansExperience conducting sensitive and other investigations; demonstrated ability to remain objective and then produce a recommendation based on findings, keeping in mind all relevant laws, policies, etc.Ability to manage all aspects of Collective Bargaining Agreements to ensure compliance, fulfillment of technical requirements, and awareness of Company philosophies regarding union relations; build and maintain strong relationships with union representatives to minimize labor relations issues, conduct supervisor/manager training to strengthen consistent application of policies and procedures, and manage all grievances in a timely and effective mannerStrong strategic orientation, analytical skills, critical thinking abilityDemonstrated leadership capability, including ability to lead, influence, and motivate othersDemonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze data and to present information in a way that allows leaders to make decisionsOutstanding ability to manage relationships and balance customer, project, organization, and team needs to ensure mutually beneficial outcomesExcellent consultative skills and ability to communicate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences, including senior leadersExcellent writing skills and the ability to take the ideas of someone else and craft it into messages or announcements for broader audiencesProven ability to work with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstancesWell organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certificate in HR Management through a University, Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification or higherProficient skills in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) applicationsPrior Human Resources experience in a service industry businessDemonstrated ability to facilitate training to include the development of training materials as well as delivery
