HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

The Human Resources Manager will manage and direct the activities of the HR Department for the Guelph, Ontario manufacturing site. Activities include, but are not limited to, recruitment, employee relations, site safety, compensation, training & org development, leave management, HRIS and benefits.

 

THE DETAILS:

As a member of the Guelph leadership team, this role will work cross functionally with local leadership and US-based leaders.  Strong business acumen and operations knowledge across a manufacturing site is critical Partner with the site General Manager and Production Managers to determine workforce needs and adjust staffing levels as required.  High degree of manufacturing business acumen and experience is required Ensure smooth implementation of all HR programs at local site Coach and consult managers and employees through the performance management process, including annual performance evaluations, Individual Development Plans, and Succession Planning Develop and implement policies, programs and procedures in all areas of HR for the facility Manage the employee relations practices necessary to maintain a positive employee-employer relationship that promotes a high level of Team Member engagement and retention in a non-union environment Review compensation plans to ensure internal and external equity Develop and implement measures to increase employee morale, motivation and satisfaction with the work environment. Develop and facilitate employee development and organizational training in 1:1, group training and/or coaching sessions. Create, maintain and report metrics & KPIs that help identify trends and recommend solutions, i.e. headcount, turnover, exit interviews, etc. Host local Town Hall meetings/sessions for all levels of Team Members

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or related area, completion of CHRP or CHRL certificate is an asset; leadership and/or management courses are preferred A minimum of ten (10) years of HR experience or related manufacturing experience including five (5) years of supervision - manages multiple direct reports Excellent employee relations skills Strong knowledge of the following areas of HR – recruitment, employee relations, compensation, learning and development, disability management, WSIB, HRIS and benefits Strong experience in employment law-related matters Previous experience in health and safety considered an asset Previous experience in a high volume, high precision manufacturing environment is an asset Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated effectiveness in supervision, leadership, communication, commitment to company strategy and corporate business beliefs, coaching and workforce motivation A high degree of integrity is required in this professional, highly visible position; a high activity level and a strong sense of urgency is necessary to achieve performance targets and be responsive to the customer groups supported
