Job Description

Mitchell College seeks a dynamic human resources professional who thrives on moving socially focused organizations towards their potential, purpose, and mission. We are excited to hire a human resources professional to join our leadership team. This team member will be undaunted by and excited about challenges, a fast and nimble problem-solver who brings their own original ideas to the work and knows how to navigate teamwork to get the best from diverse and sometimes divergent opinions and skillsets. As a key member of the leadership team, the director of human resources will partner with the president and her Cabinet colleagues to transform the organization by driving culture, process, and people operations toward positive change. This exciting opportunity will include a leading role in developing and delivering key college initiatives including in areas of diversity/equity/inclusivity/belonging, neuro-inclusivity, and employee satisfaction, empowerment, and wellness.

ResponsibilitiesAdminister and manage all Human Resource functions for the College.Oversee and advise on searches/recruitment, employee/labor relations, HR legal matters, benefits negotiations/administration, and vendor relations.Make decisions on compensation and the FLSA, collective bargaining, policy, and procedure creation/interpretation.Ensure HR compliance (e.g., audit, ACA, retirement plans, benefit annual notifications).Manage performance management and employee recognition programs.Maintain data, position/appointment, and HRIS maintenance.Oversee payroll operations.Conduct employee orientations, reporting, training, and organizational development.Act as a liaison between various campus units and vendors as needed.Serve as a Title IX investigator of the college.Handle employee relations, including complaints and grievances.Manage HRIS systems and onboarding processes.Essential SkillsEfficient with systemsCustomer service skillsProblem-solving skillsHuman resources experienceEmployee relations experiencePayroll experienceExperience with ADP payrollExperience with HR systemsAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in human resources or business required (HR certification preferred). Master’s degree preferred.3 years of supervisory experience.5 or more years of broad-based human resources experience, preferably in a higher education setting.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.Ability to maintain databases, perform word processing, and develop and maintain spreadsheets in the organization's software programs.Excellent written and communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population.Work Environment

Office setting. Hours are Monday-Friday, either 8:00am-4:00pm or 9:00am-5:00pm. This role requires in-person attendance every day

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
