Human Resources Manager
Overview CORT is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager in Chantilly, VA. This role primarily operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence at our corporate office for a minimum of three days per week. Additionally, the position involves up to 10% travel across the East Coast to support our various operational cities. As the HR Manager, you will be providing comprehensive support to a U.S. multi-location division, while also contributing to our larger HR team. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR areas including employee relations, worker's compensation, safety, performance management coaching, compliance, and training and presenting. Ideal candidates should possess 5 years of HR experience, preferably as a generalist with broad exposure to different HR areas. Salary commensurate with experience $75,000-$100,000 / year. Gather facts and provide direction on appropriate employment actions, such as formal and informal counseling, writing corrective action plans, and separation situations. Advise through complex Leave Management issue with consideration to FMLA, ADA and the interactive process. Collaborate with field to ensure consistent and appropriate compensation practices across districts and lines of business. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed. Collaborate with leadership on engagement and retention activities. Compliance Ensure that the field operates in compliance with all federal, state and local laws governing pay practices, fair employment and EEO, hiring and selection, and protection of employee personal data. Identify areas of employment-related risk, or areas of noncompliance, and elevate concern to Corporate HR team. Educate leadership on processes and procedures in place to ensure compliance. Training and Leadership Development Identify gaps in employee skillsets that require training and make recommendations accordingly. Facilitate workshops on HR-related topics and initiatives. Coach and counsel leadership on utilizing EQ, to provide feedback and coaching. Safety and Workers Compensation Promote and support corporate and local initiatives that drive employee safety. Works directly with field management to submit claims to carriers and investigate accidents. Provide support to leadership to hold employees accountable for workplace safety and identify risk. Work with Workers Compensation adjustors to collect data on claims as well as work to close open cases, including active participation on claim reviews with carriers. Qualifications College degree is preferred or equivalent experience. 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role. SHRM/HRCI certification preferred. Possess strong emotional intelligence, be approachable and able to gain trust both individually and organizationally. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems impacting people, processes, and program issues. Possess strong conflict resolution skills. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements and state-specific laws related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Develops and analyzes trends and metrics to develop and/or update solutions, programs, and policies. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Comfortable leading training or presentations both virtually and in-person. MS Office applications.
