Class Summary
Job Description
This position is on a team responsible for managing the County's retirement plans and retiree benefits, to include billing, enrollment, and changes. The team is also responsible for managing Defined Benefit payments through third party vendors through funding and reconciliation. This team also facilitates retirement meetings and trainings for active and retired Gwinnett County plan participants.
Essential Duties
+ Submit and balance all DC & DB payroll contributions and annuity payroll.
+ Develop and coordinate with retirement vendors to implement employee training that will drive retirement readiness.
+ Ensure all retirement changes are processed for active employees and retirees (deferrals, loans, distributions, etc.).
+ Assist retirees in understanding benefits and resolving issues.
+ Assist employees with retirement questions.
+ Process retiree and active employee death claims.
+ Enter retirement actions and confirm final pay is accurate.
+ Manage retiree benefits to include invoicing, changes and audits as necessary.
+ Research plan documents and legacy systems to determine retirement benefits eligibility.
+ Other duties as assigned

+ Present retirement seminars to active employees.
+ Present benefit seminars to retirees.
+ Conduct one-on-one meetings with employees and retirees.
Human Resources Specialist
The grade for this position is C41(1). Salary range of $58,649 to $68,180. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a clearly related field AND
+ Four years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: group benefits programs, training, retirement programs, and/or worker's compensations; OR
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Human Resources Associate III
The grade for this position is C42(1). Salary range of $63,780 to $74,145. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a clearly related field AND
+ Three years of specialized HR experience or one year of general human resources experience; OR
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
+ Experience in presenting retirement seminars and benefit seminars
+ Five years of experience in benefits administration, pension and retirement programs, or human resources.

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.

These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
