Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for an HVAC /Building Automation Technician 2/3 (1st Shift) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Under direction of the HVAC Supervisor, be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment used in providing utilities, and environmental conditioning to buildings serviced by the Central Plant and package equipment.Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.Installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, operating, maintaining, start-up and commissioning, repairing HVAC/building automation control systems, and related software and hardware equipment.Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctionConducts maintenance program to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment.Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks.Sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductworkOverhauls equipment.May service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections. May be required to install and maintain high-technology clean room environments. This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Level 2:
High School Diploma/GED with Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience related to HVAC and/or RefrigerationCompleted HVAC & Refrigeration Certificate Universal EPA Card Hands on experience in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of HVAC/Refrigeration equipment/systemsMust have hands on experience and knowledge in the use of standard hand tools, HVAC equipment (i.e. gauges) , and chillersAdeptness at reading and interpreting technical blueprints and schematics.Outstanding problem-solving skills complemented by keen attention to detail.Clear and effective communication skills, both in written and spoken formsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team framework.Valid non-expired Driver’s LicenseAbility to work 1st shift 9/80 (5:00AM to 2:30PM PST)Level 3:
