Purpose of the role
Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment to keep it in good running order. Troubleshoot problems, and recommend and perform mechanical repairs to minimize downtime. Work collaboratively with the Operations Team to share knowledge and contribute to a Continuous Improvement environment.
How you will contribute
You will:
Utilize mechanical ability and knowledge to repair, and replace defective parts and equipment.Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, or sketches.Working knowledge includes (but is not restricted to) pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, machining of parts, some electrical knowledge, hand tool usage, and welding.Must be qualified to operate forklifts, man lifts, ladders, and scaffolds.Work effectively with electrical, boiler room, and operations personnel when needed.Participate in groups or teams to enhance the reliability and productivity of equipment and processes.Report all work through a computerized maintenance system (SAP).Assist enhancements to the computerized maintenance system.Work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment.Knowledge and complete usage of Lock-out tag-out, hot work permits, and confined space permits.Protect the company's investment in machinery and equipment by exercising proper care, skill, and knowledge in the use of Company investments.Support and participate in business initiatives ie. HACCP, QCMS, etc.
Required
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)Served and satisfactorily completed an approved Apprenticeship or TrainingAt least 2 years of manufacturing experienceAbility to work any shift, weekends, and holidays as requiredAbility to work well in a team-based environment with limited supervisionAble to learn and apply Continuous Improvement tools (IL6S)Capable of working effectively as part of a High-Performance TeamAbility to problem solve and help with practical solutionsWorking knowledge includes (but is not restricted to) pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, machining of parts, some electrical knowledge, hand tool usage, and welding. HACCP, QCMS, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESComplies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.Maintains, operates, and repairs, HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds as it pertains to assigned building(s).Inspects building HVAC and plumbing systems to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.Performs assigned repairs, and emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.Review historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance schedules.Operates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned.The following physical demands are examples of duties that may be performed:Climb stepsLift 50 pounds and maintain balanceAbility to perform duties in extreme varying temperaturesCrawl over, under, and into equipment as necessary to perform job dutiesWork from ladders and lifts
