SUMMARY
Global Precision Systems, LLC (GPS), a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified HVAC Technician for the El Centro, CA area. This is a position for a HVAC technician with some Refrigeration experience preferred and who will be responsible for executing Preventive and Corrective Maintenance repairs on HVAC Systems and Refrigeration equipment. HVAC Technician will also help manage the maintenance Processes of the equipment, including but not limited to filling out all paperwork, reporting any problems that you may find to be scheduled in, to be repaired or needs to be repaired right away with a list of parts needed.
$31.17 per hour
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanic installs new or required components and performs complex modifications of systems and components in accordance with applicable electronic publications and directives and will maintain and repair specialized laboratory equipment such as fume hoods, de-ionized water systems, bio-clean systems, vacuum systems, cascade refrigeration systems, and laboratory sinks. Performs complex repair of systems components such as compressors, condensers, heat pump regulators, fluid and refrigerant gas line valves, meters, gauges, thermostats, pumps, mechanical linkage, and electrical sensing, switching, and controlling devices including pneumatic controls, variable speed drives, digital controlled devices, electronic, hydraulic heating, cooling, and economizer systems. Manages the maintenance processes of the equipment, including corrective, preventative, routine, emergency, and cosmetic maintenance, and evaluates equipment information to ensure conformity to industry standards. Services commercial kitchen equipment, maintains and repairs Building Automation System (BAS), Energy Management System (EMS), and Direct Digital Controls (DOC) Control System Maintains, repairs, inspects, replaces and/or installs air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Manage work orders and perform scheduled preventative maintenance duties. Record check sheets and/or documentation for preventative maintenance practices Work with management to keep equipment in good working order. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)
High school diploma or equivalent Willing to work outside normal work hours. Assist workers in the field when necessary. Minimum of five (5) year's full-time experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade as an HVAC/R technician in a commercial or institutional setting PASSING A Background FIT test required DHS ICE goes back 7 years. Experience Preferred working at Corrections/ICE/OHS/DOD and/or a similar government facility. EPA 608 Certification for refrigerant (Type 1 and Type 2).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of multiple types of HVAC systems. (Mini-Splits, Rooftop Units, walk-in refrigerator, freezer) Good mechanical/electrical/plumbing skills as related to HVAC equipment. Ability to lift and carry weights up to 75 lbs. Ability to work with little supervision. Knowledge of motors, pumps, dampers, and actuators Ability to generate paperwork and other manageable documents. Ability to work well with others. Communication skills Knowledge of maintenance trades Able to pay attention to detail when executing tasks.NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Technicians may be required to walk/stand/sit for extended periods as needed. Travel to and from work sites is accomplished via company owned vehicle (van/truck). Work at customer locations includes the need to bring tools to and from the work vehicle to multifloored buildings

GPS operates from an office space inside the DHS/Ice Secured facility from which we base our operations. Technicians will report to this office daily for assignments.
