This role is not a remote opportunity, it is on-site at our Manufacturing Plant in Indianapolis, Indiana. 


Scope:

The HVAC Technician demonstrates proficiency in work involving facility/utility equipment and general building repairs / construction. High emphasis of proven proficiencies in leadership with duties that will involve preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced demanding food and beverage manufacturing environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Promotes and practices safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times without compromise.Displays initiative to lead efforts to improve productivity. Uses tools ranging from hand and power tools to precision measuring and alignment instruments and electrical and electronic test equipment.Performs routine preventive maintenance activities to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, utility systems operate efficiently and maximizes equipment uptime.Inspects, operates, or tests machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and improve efficiencies.Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to correct fault, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.Must be able to perform checks on Trane 250-to-400-ton chillers and be able to troubleshoot the system.Trouble shoot glycol pumps for the Trane chiller system.Experienced with an in-depth knowledge of utility systems such as compressors, boilers, chillers, and water systems.Familiar with HVAC operations and controls.Knowledge of mechanical power transfer systems such as gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts, and couplings.Knowledge of 480-volt 3 phase power distribution such as transformers, Motor Control Centers, power panels.Basic knowledge of 120- and 24-volt discrete control and 4-20mA analog control systems.Knowledge and experience with pneumatic operated control valve actuators and solenoid devices.Documents all work performed, hours, parts, and follow up work on maintenance work orders.All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.HVAC certification and experience required.5 years accumulative experience in building maintenance and/or utility maintenance.Basic computer skills with Microsoft applications and CMMS experience.Must have prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.Must have strong critical thinking and technical troubleshooting abilities.High sense of urgency and customer support. Deep self-motivation and pride of craftsmanship, challenges the status quo.Must have the ability to work extended hours while standing. Must have good job performance and attendance records.

Physical Demands: 

Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend. Must possess visual acuity to document company records. Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.Lifting up to 50 pounds
