This is a full-time, hourly staff position for Russell Sage College (Troy and Albany campuses).
Job Summary: Performs major maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment including, but not limited to: water source heat pumps, cooling towers, residential and commercial heating/cooling systems, chillers, and commercial rooftop units. Also provides service and repairs in the areas of preventative maintenance, plumbing, equipment repairs and maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Is knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job. Works under limited supervision. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Performs a variety of tasks. Will lead and teach members of Facilities Management, in the field of HVAC repair and preventative maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Provide labor, skills and expertise, with a primary focus on quality workmanship, the safety, functionality and comfort of students, staff, faculty and visitors
+ Specifically checks and repairs and/or replaces valves, steam traps, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, coils, tube bundles, pipes, heat exchanges, and other functional components of the system.
+ HVAC trouble shooting/installation and repair
+ HVAC on-call required
+ Renovations, construction, repair, lifting, moving, electrical and plumbing.
+ Manages or assists in planning and estimating projects.
+ Responsible for preparation, compiling, proper tracking and filing of daily work orders, supply house packing slips and invoices for supplies
+ Put a preventative maintenance schedule
+ Filter changes
+ Works directly with the Senior Director of Facilities and Planning, Crew Coordinators, and all maintenance staff. Deals with contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies and municipal building code officials.
The estimated wage is $26.45 per hour for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.
Job Requirements:
+ Associates degree
+ Licensed and CFC Universal Certification in HVAC Technology
+ Minimum of 5 years of commercial and residential job-related experience, specifically in: HVAC maintenance and repair or CFC Universal Certification in HVAC Technology
+ Minimum of 10 years of commercial and residential job-related experience, specifically in: HVACV maintenance and repair.
+ Must have a NYS drivers license that is in good standing.
+ Experience with working on Carrier Comfort View 6400 software and controls.
+ Must be able to read instructions and safety rules, write sentences, communicate verbally, and follow instructions.
+ Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
+ Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
+ Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, crouch, sit, kneel, climb ladders, and crawl
+ Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
