Hvac Technician
**Job Title: HVAC Technician** **Job Description** Install and maintain HVAC systems in engine control rooms, accommodation areas, galleys, cafeterias, crew quarters, living areas, lockers, and bunks. Perform diagnostics and repairs on HVAC systems. Install, maintain, and repair ship’s main propulsion and auxiliary systems, including steam, gas turbine, diesel propulsion, propulsion shafting, propellers, rudders, air conditioning, refrigeration, and steering systems. **Responsibilities** + Install and maintain HVAC systems in engine control rooms, accommodation areas, galleys, and cafeteria areas. + Install and maintain crew quarters, living areas, lockers, and bunks. + Perform diagnostics and repairs on HVAC systems. + Install, maintain, and repair ship’s main propulsion and auxiliary systems including steam, gas turbine, diesel propulsion, propulsion shafting, propellers, rudders, air conditioning and refrigeration, and steering systems. + Install, maintain, and repair ship’s sub-systems including pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, hydraulic/electric motor operators, valves, fluid control components/assemblies, and fluid/air/hydraulic systems. + Test installed equipment to ensure the system meets specifications. + Install and test various shop equipment. + Maintain and operate refrigerant handling equipment, vacuum pumps, regulators, and gauge manifolds. **Essential Skills** + Experience in ship repair, shipyard, marine mechanical work, and marine repair. + Proficiency in blueprint reading, pipe installation, installation, grinding, fabrication, and working with stainless steel. + HVAC and AC/R systems troubleshooting and maintenance. + Strong mechanical aptitude, particularly in preventive maintenance. + Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in mechanical ship repair with a focus on air conditioning and refrigeration repair. + Ability to obtain a DBIDS. + EPA and Universal certification required to handle refrigerant. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Preferred background as Machinist Mate, Enginemen, or Gas Turbine Systems Technicians. + Commercial experience and/or certifications that meet the requirements may qualify an applicant. + Demonstrated knowledge of shipboard systems and components. + Possession of required personal tools necessary to accomplish daily tasks. **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic team that values expertise and offers opportunities for growth.
