In the role of Hydraulics Structures Engineer, we'll count on you to:Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculationsIndependently coordinate the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a projectEstablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceConduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplinesTake responsibility for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on scheduleCoordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documentsLead design of various new and/or rehabilitation of hydraulic structures, including dams, spillways, gates, outlet works,diversion structures, retaining walls, cofferdams, floodwalls, water conveyance structures, foundationsPerform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique structural elementsthat have limited or no specific code based guidanceWork independently as project engineer and provide oversight and mentorship of project and junior staff if required. Thisrole may include leadership and expansion of HDR’s structural engineering services including client and strategic projectdevelopment with Federal and State government agencies, water agencies and utilities, and power utilitiesReview tasks undertaken by others in the group such that each design receives a complete check of designassumptions, calculations, criteria, load cases, code review and compliance with design standardsPerform inspections and structural assessments of existing structures and structuresPerform other duties as needed #LI-JF1

Preferred QualificationsA minimum of 3 years structural engineer experienceInterest or experience designing water resources projectsProficient with Excel and WordMicroStation experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team for the completion of the task5 years general Civil Engineering experienceMS preferredStrong background in finite element modeling and knowledge of computer-based design tools (such as CAD, SAP2000,LPILE, or equivalent). Use of commercially available programs that can be used for advanced analysis such as dynamicresponse spectrum or seismic time history analysisRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license Previous structural engineer experience Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
