Job Summary

We are offering an opportunity for an individual aspiring to work with power generation hydro mechanical and electrical plant components. This opportunity will be at our Power Generation Stevens Creek Hydro generating plants.  This is a part time position with an individual pursuing an associate degree while performing 15 to 20 hours of work at Stevens Creek per week.  The schedule will vary depending on the individual’s class schedule.

Assisting with operating, maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment at the generating station. Includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), motor controllers, smart field devices, Distributed Control System (DCS) controls, and system protection relay equipment. Working with qualified hydro journeymen experienced in the maintenance and operation of the hydro power plant equipment. Utilizing drawings, prints, CAD systems, etc. Working in a physical environment involving climbing, bending, and lifting of heavy power plant equipment, and standing for prolonged periods of time. Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors and during inclement weather.  Will also require working around water from docks, boats, and barges. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Have permission of the Aiken Technical College Division Dean. Must be enrolled at Aiken Technical College in an associate degree program below. Must be enrolled in one of the following study programs. Electronics Technology Production operator Completed at least one full semester of courses in one of the above study programs. Must maintain a 3.0 overall grade point average. Be at least 18 years of age. Education Requirements Must have a high school diploma.
