Key Responsibilities:

Lead   in groundwater geophysical survey and groundwater exploration and detail investigation in partnership with AP,s, engineers and government staff

Leading all overall drilling operations, pump testing and pump installations and managing water quality test and pump installation processes

Provide leadership in the preparation of bidding documents, BoQs, contract documents,  and well designs for all drilling works in addition to supporting SCM in evaluating the same

Lead in the preparation of annual drilling operation, water quality test, pump test installation and groundwater investigation plans, reports, proposals and concept papers and review them for maximum compliance with the set standards and follow up its implementation

Provide leadership in the preparation of detail specification and management of drilling supplies, pumps and pump testing supplies based on the study design document.

Plan, Manage, and ensure all the drilling equipment are effectively services at all times.

Lead and manage the WVM drilling team in cost recovery manner

Ensure technical excellence in drilling and completion in compliance with community needs, donor requirements, WV and government policies and national standards

Provide support in resourcing for the Technical Programme by engaging in the preparation of WASH concept notes and proposals

Promote major cross cutting themes including environment, gender, protection, disability, peace building and Christian commitment

Build capacity of other WASH staff in groundwater investigation (citing), pump test installation and water quality testing, planning, facilitation and trainings on WASH related trainings to NO, PrOs, AP staff and other stakeholder

Build capacity of APs in supervising and controlling the activities of private contractors involved in provision of technical services covering borehole construction

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION:

Educational level required: M.Sc in Hydrogeology/ Water Resources Engineering/Geology/ Earth Sciences or Bachelor of Science  in Geology/Earth Science  

Experience:  For MSc 4 years in well site selection and study design  B.Sc 10 years in ground water exploration in Malawi Other team management exposure and computer knowledge (word and excel)

M.Sc in Hydrogeology with 4 years  experience in study and design of groundwater sources and use of geophysical instrument Preference Technical Training qualifications required:  Professional technical skill desired (well selection and use of geophysical instruments)

Effective in written and verbal communication in English
