Teledyne CARIS and Teledyne Optech have united to form the new Teledyne Geospatial offering holistic solutions to seamlessly map land and sea through the integration of industry-leading lidar sensors and world-renowned software workflows. 

Teledyne CARIS is the world's leading developer of geospatial software for ocean mapping and marine information systems with its headquarters in Fredericton, Canada. We offer an integrated suite of software that specializes in processing sonar and LiDAR data, managing and analyzing large data sets, producing charts and maps, and serving data over the internet as well as other specialized needs. Our software is used by government agencies, defence organizations, commercial survey companies as well as the research and academic community. 

Teledyne Optech has been a world leader in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced lidar instruments for 40 years. Teledyne Optech is a pioneer in sensor technology with decades of experience in lidar and photogrammetry, as well as auxiliary technologies such as GPS, inertial measurement systems, and waveform digitization. Our rugged, reliable, and innovative lidar and camera products are deployed on all seven continents-and even on other planets, where for instance a Teledyne Optech lidar provided proof of precipitation on Mars. 

As part of our growth we are currently seeking a Hydrographic Technical Support Consultant to join our CARIS Team in Canada. 

Position Summary:

As a technical expert in the field of hydrographic data processing, digital terrain modelling, bathymetric & topographic data management, engineering analysis, you are the main point of contact with our current and future customers, providing support over email, phone and online resources as well as trainings remote or onsite around the world. Minimum two year experience with EIVA, PDS, QPS or HIPS and SIPS or equivalent is required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

·             Provide first line technical support to our customers;

·             Provide software training in the office as well as at client sites.

·             Build close working relationships with existing clients;

·             Analyze current client systems and issues, identify technical problems, formulate, and demonstrate integrated solutions;

·             Document workflows, operating procedures, and technical notes for our customers;

·             Potentially be involved in marketing and sales activities of Teledyne CARIS , including attending international conferences and exhibitions;

·             Provide expert consultancy, once fully experienced within this role.

Job Qualifications:

·             At minimum a Bachelor degree in Hydrography, Geomatics or related disciplines;

·             Alternatively proven working experience in the fields of hydrographic surveys;

·             Experience in scripting languages (Python preferred);

·             Experience with Cloud technologies, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, is considered an asset;

·             Confidence to stand in front of a crowd and provide in-depth training events;

·             Fluency in English - a second language would be an asset;

·             Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25-30%);

·             Strong social, inter-cultural, communicative, time management and problem solving skills.

The perfect candidate also brings one or several of the following:

·       Knowledge of and working experience with hydrographic processing software, especially using the CARIS line of products;

·       Experience with and knowledge of bathymetric LiDAR systems;

·       Knowledge and working experience with RDBMS packages (Oracle / PostgreSQL);

·       Affinity with RESTful API, SQL, JSON.
