Dewberry is currently seeking a Geospatial Analyst III for our Tampa, FL or Fairfax, VA offices. Remote positions will be considered dependent on experience. Overall responsibility includes working on a team performing automated and manual processing of hydrography data for the 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP).

Responsibilities
Position requires experience in analysis and review of elevation data (typically derived from topographic lidar, topobathymetric data, or IfSAR), vector data (2D and 3D), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), Digital Surface Models (DSMs), Elevation Derived Hydrography (EDH) data for 3DHP, Watershed Boundary Datasets (WBD), NHD, imagery, and derivative products for state, federal, and private clients across the US. Experience with processing large vector datasets and performing raster geoprocessing preferred. Strong candidates will also have a good, conceptual understanding of fundamental remote sensing concepts and geospatial processes for various products, e.g. how lidar sensors work, basic GPS ground survey procedures, airborne lidar trajectory processing, interaction of light and water for bathymetry applications, and ortho-imagery processing.
Working with elevation data, hydrography, hydrographic networks, and derived productsCreation and analysis of data products and processing resultsWorking with Watershed Boundary Datasets (WBD) and National Hydrography Dataset (NHD)Feature extraction and attributionWork with the Product Line Lead to assist in the execution of projects, on time and within budget.Data Management and Handling: Planning and monitoring production data, Ensuring data management protocols are met including the use of proper files and formats as well as file locations, storage, and backups.Perform work that appropriately follows all quality control steps and practices are implemented throughout processes to ensure deliverables meet client specifications. Provide feedback and support for developing and/or updating SOPs as necessary.Works with production staff to support process improvements; working with other Technology/Process Improvement teams to review best practices to enhance product line, gain efficiencies, and improve quality.Support improvements to automation of the production and QC process through providing technical guidance and ideas Task Management; Problem resolution; Report writing; CollaborationQuality Assurance, documentation and providing feedback. Required Skills & Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.3 +years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience in elevation data processing and elevation model creation/manipulation, hydrography, or other remote sensing processing, development, and QA/QC.An understanding of GIS, elevation data, lidar, and concepts including a strong knowledge of various raster and vector data types, coordinate systems, projections, and datumsIn-depth knowledge of ESRI’s products including ArcGIS 10x, ArcPro, and experience with GDBs.Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).Ability to handle multiple priorities under tight schedules as requiredStrong verbal and written communication skills.Beneficial Skills & Experience
Understanding of Lidar production workflow and being able to explain the conceptual basis of Lidar acquisition, processing, and deliverable creationThe ability to analyze point clouds and various geospatial data layers derived from point cloud data.Creative problem-solving skills.GISP Certification, ASPRS certifications in Lidar or other Remote Sensing technologies a plusWorking knowledge of Python and/or other programming languages a plus.GDAL Tools, and command line applications highly desirableArcGIS Data Review and Production Editing experience a plus.Specific experience working with the retired National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), USGS 3DHP, or other hydrology data.Experience in hydrography, H&H modeling, flood mapping or related area.Experience creating scripts/models/macros in multiple GIS/remote sensing platformsExperience with national elevation programs, such as NOAA’s Coastal Mapping Program, USGS 3DEP, and/or USGS 3DHPExperience with industry standards and specifications, e.g., Elevation-Derived Hydrography Data Acquisition Specifications, Elevation-Derived Hydrography – READ Rules, ASPRS Positional accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data, USGS Lidar Base Specifications.Must be a US Citizen.Don’t meet every single requirement?
