The role involves performing various tasks and procedures as directed by a licensed professional to support hyperbaric patient needs. Operates the hyperbaric chamber for all age groups (neonatal to geriatric) in accordance with established training and protocols.Ensures a safe environment by adhering to safety policies, responding appropriately in emergencies, and removing hazards prior to pressurization.Conducts routine cleaning and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber and ancillary equipment to prevent infection and ensure operational integrity.Prepares patients for hyperbaric oxygen therapy by managing and mitigating physical and patient-related risk factors.Configures and operates ancillary equipment for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including blood glucose testing and blood pressure monitoring.For multiplace chambers: Calculates nitrogen time, oxygen requirements, decompression stops, and dive profiles; operates in compressed gas environments; monitors chamber variables and maintains communication with the inside attendant.Employees are required to complete a UHMS-approved course in Hyperbaric Medicine within one year of their hire or transfer into this position.Skills

Current certificate or license in Medical Assistant, Diver Medical Tech, Emergency Medical Technician certification, Paramedic certification, or LPN licenseCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.Meets medical requirements for hyperbaric exposure if applicable.Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a UHMS or ACHM approved course in Hyperbaric Medicine. One year of wound care or hyperbaric experience. Experience in an acute hospital setting.Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
