Job SummaryAdministers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients of the Wound Healing Center, under the supervision of a hyperbaric physician. Orders all therapeutic and diagnostic modalities.

Responsibilities:
Ascertains that the patients diagnosis is one of the appropriate approved disorders for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and that the diagnosis is clearly entered on the patients charts/records.Performs hyperbaric chamber operator duties such as preparing, educating, and orienting patients about the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.Responsible for hyperbaric equipment/supply; Ensures the safe and effective operation/maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s).Implements the physician's orders as indicated by the patients treatment plan (i.e. blood glucose monitoring, transcutaneous oxygen monitoring testing, dressing changes, patient education, etc.); administers the hyperbaric treatments; monitors the patient during therapy; consults with the hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions; documents treatment notes; maintains patient treatment/diagnostic records.Evaluates the patient outcome and meet with the manager, case manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment as necessary.Performs data entry into the Wound Information Data System and collate reports as requested by the director and/or the nurse manager.Leads hyperbaric safety program activities and initiatives.Other duties as assigned.Education:
Must have completed training through the appropriate accredited school/program; knowledge of oxygen emergencies.Certifications:
Current license or certification is required in one of the following areas: state license as Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care, state license as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); or state license as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP).Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) may be required based upon work setting.Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment.Work Experience:
Minimum of two years experience in healthcare is required.Wound, Hyperbaric, or critical care experience is preferred.Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.Requires frequent patient lifting, sitting, stooping, squatting.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and color vision.Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
