Roles and Responsibilities:
Design of prototype components and subsystems for rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systemsDesign using 3D CAD and develop thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component. Perform analyses ranging from 1D calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to predict structural, thermal, and/or fluidic behavior of systems/componentsPrepare drawings to manufacture prototypes or components of an experimental setupSupport validation of new designs and technologies through benchtop or larger-scale testingInteract with design and development teams (teams include specialists in Design, Analysis, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing) to create and verify creative design solutions that meet all requirements (technical, cost, schedule) Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projectsAbility to work well in a team environment and coordinate between various teams and disciplinesStrong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasksSkilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPointRequired Qualifications
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university5 years design and analysis experience in high-speed aerospace propulsion industrySkilled in mechanical design using 3D CAD Siemens NX (Unigraphics) and TeamcenterSkilled with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and performing simulations in ANSYS for thermal structural analysisSkilled with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPointStrong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasksMust be a US citizen Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security ClearanceDesired Characteristics
