I&E Technician - $2,000 Sign On Bonus

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking an Instrumentation Technician that will be based at our Chesterton, IN. location.

The overall objective of the Instrumentation Technician is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the production facility. The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of preventive/predictive programs and corrective maintenance solutions for instrument systems and equipment across multiple processes in the facility. This person will be expected to work independently and make technical decisions and recommendations in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments such as: transmitters, PLC systems, meters, analyzers, automatic valves, etc.
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment (<600V) including Motors, UPS systems, Breakers, and Transformers. Knowledge of Switchgear control systems and functionally rack in-out breakers.
Develop, plan, schedule, coordinate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
Assist in root cause analysis activities for major failures.
Read and Maintain PIDs and Schematic wiring diagrams in compliance with SOP’s, QA, and MOC policies.
Identifying and resolving chronic (bad actors) or longer term (threats) instrumentation asset concerns.
Assist in turnaround planning and cost estimation of instrumentation work.
Identify and implement new technologies and specify new instrument systems.
Develop and train new and current instrument specialists in the facility, when applicable.
Lead Procal (Instrumentation Calibration/ Asset management Software) implementation and compliance activities within the facility.
Assist in FDA and cGMP validation activities for instrumentation systems and assets.
Assess equipment performance data and ensure optimal and efficient performance.
Provide on-site or remote assistance and direction to plant or contract personnel to ensure safe and effective work.
Drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
Support satellite plant in Columbia City, Indiana – ~20% travel required

This position requires a combination of office work and field work. Employee will be required to work in different weather conditions and must be able to access elevated electrical and mechanical equipment via ladders, scaffolding, man-lifts and crane baskets. The job occasionally requires overtime and callouts on weekend, nights, and holidays. This position also supports the associated satellite plant in Columbia City, IN. Travel is required ~20% of the time.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or Engineering Technology Degree in Instrumentation/Electronics and minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance of instrumentation systems and equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in installation, troubleshooting, repairs, testing and calibration of industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.
Proven knowledge of Preventive and Predictive maintenance of industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.
Excellent communication and team interaction skills.
Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on teams.
Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
Proven experience in computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).
Ability to travel ~20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Proven understanding of regulatory and industrial standards and codes.
Proven understanding of process control systems and methodology in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in Asset Management systems such as Infor EAM and Procal.
