Main Purpose of the Role:

 

Léman Manhattan Preparatory School is seeking a full-time IB Economics Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year. The ideal candidate will have a strong content knowledge of teaching Economics and a passion for teaching High School students. As a school we seek to find an individual, who is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Should have an undergraduate degree or Masters in Economics or a related field. Should have strong knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate Program.

 

This teacher will join an exciting and collaborative Social Science Department committed to inspiring students from all over the world. Léman Manhattan is an international school, whose global outlook utilizes the International Baccalaureate Programme as a foundation for educating students to be the successful leaders of tomorrow. 

 

The IB Economics Teacher appreciates the joy of teaching, has fun in the classroom, and embraces the challenge of teaching highly motivated students from all over the world. A strong knowledge of content, with the utilization of hands-on work, which further encourages student discovery, is highly desirable. In addition, this teacher can collaborate with the other members of the department to utilize innovative assessments and differentiate instruction to create an exciting learning environment. Key Responsibilities: (The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)Teach five classes (combination of IB and non-IB High School Economics classes)Meet daily with student advisory groupKeep accurate grades using Standard Based Grading (SBG)Communicate with students and families with feedback and progress on academic learning throughout the year The IB Economics Teacher is expected to:Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the studentsEncourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties

 

Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectivesProvide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructiveDifferentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of studentsIdentify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriatelyProvide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communicationProvide a safe learning environment in which students can take intellectual risksUse learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriateCreate a stimulating and challenging learning environment with effective use being made of classroom displaysDevelop student cooperation and tolerance through group workCreate an environment that fosters a global mindsetCreate an atmosphere of mutual respectAssist students in taking responsibility for their own actionsEncourage students to set realistic goals and to use their time in a constructive and balanced mannerEncourage students to participate in the co-curricula life of the school and serve as an advisorAssign homework that is meaningful and appropriateMaintain accurate recordsAttend functions in support of school and communityMaintain student portfolios and facilitate student-led conferences following division
