**The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications invites applications for a full-time On-Site Academic Director/Instructor position at International College Beijing (ICB). The job will commence in Beijing in Spring or Fall of 2025.**
The On-Site Academic Director works with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to provide on-site coordination of CU Denver faculty, staff, and students at our ICB program in Beijing. The Director will coordinate with CLAS academic leaders, Department Chairs, members of the Office of International Affairs, the Registrar's Office, and other appropriate campus units and offices. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the academic programming and the daily operations of the office.
Sample responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Facilitating and supporting faculty, staff, and students to promote the highest standards of academic excellence
+ Advancing the mission and values of the ICB program and CU Denver with internal and external audiences
+ Representing CU Denver's interests at ICB by liaising with China Agricultural University administration on all program-related matters
+ Collaborating with appropriate CU Denver offices and academic program leaders to ensure smooth functioning of the ICB program
+ Providing curricular, pedagogical, and policy oversight in Beijing
+ Preparing course schedules in a timely and equitable manner to meet the programmatic needs of students at ICB
+ Handling purchasing, allocating resources, and keeping records of all financial transactions
+ Ensuring faculty and staff compliance with all University of Colorado policies and procedures
+ Facilitating program and outcomes assessment and evaluation of faculty teaching
The On-Site Academic Director will be expected to teach two courses per academic year. We seek to hire a colleague who will be rostered (full-time, non-tenure track) faculty within one of the disciplines in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, one who can teach from among a wide array of courses including History, English, Math, Communication, Economics, Public Health, Linguistics, and Computer Science.
The ICB is a unique international collaboration embodying best practices in international and intercultural communication, so the ideal candidate will function not only as a faculty member and staff/student advocate, but as a cultural ambassador helping to merge U.S.-style pedagogy with Chinese cultural norms.
**About International College Beijing (ICB)**
Located in the Haidian District of Beijing, ICB is an international partnership between China Agricultural University (CAU) and the University of Colorado Denver that offers complete undergraduate programs in Economics and Communication. Now in its thirtieth year, the ICB program is among the first joint programs approved by China's Ministry of Education. All courses are administered and taught by CU Denver faculty in English, and the degree earned is awarded by CU Denver. The ICB program offers a thriving and collegial environment that strives to embody the best promises of international education. Instructors receive an allowance to purchase airline tickets to and from Beijing (the first ticket to Beijing is covered by the university), international health insurance, and the option of free on-campus housing or discounted on-campus housing at higher levels of accommodation. Semesters are 12 weeks long; semester start dates are based on the lunar calendar with fall semesters beginning early to mid-September, and spring semesters beginning in mid-January to early-February. Semester dates and required make-up days for holidays are determined by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Based on certain employee situations, we may not be able to hire candidates directly as CU employees and may need to use a Professional Employment Organization (PEO) to complete the hire.
Faculty hired to teach at ICB must be able to meet the requirements to obtain the Z Visa to work in China (http://english.gov.cn/services/workinchina/ (https://apptrkr.com/get\_redirect.php?id=5885857&targetURL=http://english.gov.cn/services/workinchina/) ). Our understanding of these requirements includes holding a Master's degree or above, demonstrating at least 2-years teaching experience, and holding a graduate degree that matches the area that the applicant will teach. Under these Chinese rules, the maximum age of candidates seeking a work Visa is 59. These requirements are subject to change by the Chinese government without notice.
**Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)**
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
+ Master's degree and two years independent teaching experience (English-medium)
+ Evidence of highly effective teaching
+ Evidence of providing service to a Department
**Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)**
+ Experience teaching at a four-year college/university
+ Experience teaching and working in an international environment
+ Two years of supervisory experience
+ Proven record of teaching excellence
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Familiarity with international communication and intercultural dynamics and ability to communicate clearly across oral, digital, and written formats
+ Mandarin language ability or the willingness and ability to learn Mandarin
+ Ability to obtain proficiency with university systems and software such as Concur, Inspire, Canvas, and others.

**Compensation and Benefits**
The Instructor salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $60,000 - $75,107 at 1.0 FTE, per 9-month academic year. In addition, the On-Site Academic Director receives a 15% academic year stipend and two months of summer salary.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
