Hiring Range is $60,253 to $72,892 annually based on qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Ice & Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Concessions stands and skate rental staffing at the SSSC and at the Family Sports; Manages the Entertainment Center including front counter operations and customer service, Rock Wall, Euro Bungee, Video Games, Bumper Cars, Laser Tag, birthday parties, group sales, and specials events at the Family Sports Center. The Ice Supervisor plans, organizes, markets and implements a variety of programs including, but not limited to, special events, public ice activities, rock wall classes, general recreation programs, and corporate events. Plans and supervises all activities and events designed to attract customers as well as the daily employee management including hiring, training, and supervision of staff. This position also works closely with the General Manager to ensure the highest quality customer service and safety.

Essential Duties:

Plans, leads, and maintains all day-to-day business operations of the Family Sports Center. Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; and works with employees to correct deficiencies. Areas included SSSC and FSC skate rental and concessions staff as well as the Entertainment staff. Works in conjunction with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor to develop competent and productive staff by planning, organizing, and implementing employee training with a strong emphasis on safety, quality customer service, and business development. Actively promotes and trains on the safety and security of staff, offices, front counter, point of sale system, and all equipment and supplies. Effectively handles a variety of customer situations and is responsible for maintaining excellent customer and employee relations. Responds promptly to customer inquiries, handles and resolves customer complaints in an appropriate manner. Maintains a positive relationship with 3rd party, on-site tenants and its staff. Maintains records and makes periodic reports as directed, including attendance reports, program reports, accident reports, and monthly program reports and personnel evaluations. Attracts potential customers by answering product and service questions; suggesting information about other products and services available throughout the District. Ensures that all monies collected are handled according to District policies and practices. Also responsible for internal controls including the prompt processing of all daily receipts. Develops, implements, and tracks results of all marketing strategies to ensure the utilization; notify the public of District events. Promote a positive image to the public. Participate in community planning and organizational meetings. Prepares and monitors budget, manage revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports. Negotiate concession contracts. Prepares purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Prepare short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue streams, etc. Develop and implement strategies to increase usage of assigned areas. Calculates program fees to meet cost-recovery goals. Formulates comprehensive business plans by researching and analyzing market information is essential. Prepares, enforces, maintains and modifies policies and procedures manuals; conducts periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answers questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally. Determines community needs by evaluating programs and activities; makes recommendations for improvement and future development, and implement changes. Develops and maintains relationships with District employees, vendors, and various outside user groups to coordinate their programs and special events. Works as part of a larger supervisory team to promote the business and all programs at the Family Sports Center facility. Assists other staff in the facility with special events. Some examples may include but not limited to: Touch-a-Truck; Easter Egg Hunt, After-Proms, or other events; and participates in the planning, organizing, promotion, staffing and evaluation of the events. Maintains all rides and equipment. Ensures safety and proper training of staff attendants and riders. Makes arrangements for additional equipment and ride repair in a timely and satisfactory manner. Ensures the facility maintains the proper licenses required to operate the rock wall, amusement rides, and schedules the annual inspection of equipment. Maintains a culture of providing excellent customer service and ensures consistency across all facilities and programs. Responds tactfully and in a timely fashion to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in line with District policies and procedures. Thoughtfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions. Consistently demonstrates high ethical standards, good communication, and a professional appearance. Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations. Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis. Weekends required.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Business Management or related field. A minimum two (2) years of experience working in recreation program planning and management preferably in a customer service related industry, or a closely related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

CPR, First Aid and AED certificates, or the ability to obtain upon hire, are required. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record. Serve Safe Food Handlers Certificate or the ability to obtain upon hire.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have knowledge of Parks and Recreation services including facilities, recreation programing, governmental law associated with amusement park licenses and practices (or willingness to learn), and basic equipment repair and maintenance. Must have knowledge of customer service principles, emergency first-aid procedures, effective employee management skills and financial and budgeting practices, The ability to: provide and teach superior customer service and successfully interact with employees, customers, and supervisors while managing multiple customers and events; handle cash flow and daily cash reports with accuracy and proper handling in adherence to established procedures; investigate and resolve complaints concerning programs and facility; work a flexible schedule including weekends, some evenings, and holidays. Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors and interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

Material and Equipment Used :

To successfully perform the required job duties, this position regularly uses a phone, computer, printer, fax and other office equipment. This position also regularly operates a cash register, change machine, Point of Sale (POS) system, amusement park rides, and gaming equipment. Drives to additional District facilities for meetings and other business purposes as needed. May be required to drive a District vehicle as needed.

Working Environment :

This position primarily works in a busy and loud Family Entertainment Center and office environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Occasionally works outside subject to variable weather conditions, ecosystems and landscape.

Physical Requirements :

Stand, walk, handle and operate objects and office equipment, reach outward and above shoulder and carry, pull, push or lift up to 30 lbs. May occasionally climb, crawl, squat, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to see close up and at a distance with vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision. The employee must communicate clearly and effectively, must understand and be understood.
