                                                                     ICE TECHNICIAN      

Applications are invited to apply for the above mentioned position based In Sedibeng Brewery. The successful incumbent will report to Automation Engineer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and adhering to HSEC requirements.

• Assist with instrumentation design and review activities.

• Competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants.

• Should exhibit competence in Flow, Temperature, Level, Pressure, Weight Control, quality measuring instruments systems.

• Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, provide support and recommendations for new and existing equipment with regards to installations, upgrades, and enhancements.

• Calibration of various instruments (Pressure, Temperature etc).

• Perform tests and calibrations according to the schedule on the calibration management software in the manufacturing plant.

• Ensure new instrument are added to the calibration database or calibration management software and schedule the calibration interval thereof.

• Ensure calibration and / or test results are logged on the calibration management software and a written copy filed.

• Ensure calibration methods are stipulated in the IB procedures, for any changes to the method changes ensure the changes are logged and updated accordingly.

• Assist in contingency planning and organizing of planned outages.

• Respond to outages and problems promptly and document root causes.

• Minimize engineering related breakdowns and call outs in areas of responsibility.

• Ensure all tools and equipment are always maintained in good working condition.

• Ensure safety and housekeeping meet the standards as set out in terms of the OHS Act and client requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• N6 Certificate (instrumentation major subjects) with an Instrumentation Trade Certificate OR National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (instrumentation major subjects).

• Technicial Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation major subjects) will be advantageous.

• At least Driver’s license (Code EB/08). (A Must)

 

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 3 Years’ experience as an Instrument Technician.

• E&H Instrument knowledge and experience (Flow, Pressure, Temperature etc)- will be advantageous.

• Electronics experience (Soldering PCD board etc).

• Computer literacy: SAP, MS Word, Excel, Power Point-proficient level.

• CMMS knowledge SAP/ Compucal knowledge.

• Basic knowledge of PLC (Field Inputs DI/DO and Outputs AI AO).

• Field bus networks knowledge (Profibus, RS 485, Profinet etc)

 

Job Specific Requirements

• Treatment plant environment, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, grease, smoke, gases, solvents, hazardous chemicals within the allowable exposure limits as defined by Department of Labour.

• Exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions.

• Working in confined spaces. • Working at heights.

• Work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including uneven surfaces.

• Enough physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and operating motorized equipment.

• This position is regional, and the employee will be seconded to plants within the region to conduct work. As such, the employee:

• Must own a vehicle.

• Be willing to travel OR to have own accommodation within the region.

• Standby duties after hours and over weekends.
