Overview Determines from notices and inquires received from courts and agencies across the United States as to the eligibility of Cherokee Children under the provisions of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act 25 USC et seq. and Tribal Code for purposes within Cherokee Nation as required for Cherokee Nation Indian Child Welfare Services, update determination as new information is received, provide registration documents when appropriate, file and rotate pending determinations, be prepared to justify determination, based on information received if questioned by the court. Maintains closed file system for easy and accurate retrieval. Scans documents into the filing system. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT High School diploma or GED required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Database software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Driver’s License required when traveling from one location to another in the course of performing the duties of this job as specified by the department. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Must have the ability to operate a computer and other general office equipment. Must have the ability to type 35 words per minute and must be verified by completing a typing test. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to correct/adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
