Job Description

JOB TITLE:             Injection Molding Maintenance II

DEPARTMENT:        Maintenance

REPORT TO:             Sr. Maintenance Supervisor or Shift Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: C 650a-7p 2/2/3 schedule

SUMMARY: Responsible for performing tasks and providing services to support the plant’s overall business plans and objectives as directed for the plant.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

To exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.To demonstrate problem solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement.Follow Company policies and display conduct expected of Amcor employees as stated in the Corporate and Local Handbook.Adhere to all safety and health objectives, policies and procedures of Amcor to provide for a safe and healthful workplace.  Work in a safe manner at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor in order that the situation can be corrected.  Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur.Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks.To meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Amcor.Meet daily production goals and departmental objectives as directed.Clean all assigned work areas after completion of the required work, return all tools to proper storage area at the end of the shift and report any malfunctioning equipment. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals. Reports daily on Master Cleaning Schedule.Direct all non-conforming parts to the appropriate reprocess area.Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. Communicates production information at shift change.Maintain proper radio etiquette when using company radios, PA system and/or phone, business use only.Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (technician typically have their assigned department to support but can be moved as needed for support and training)

Responsible for all planned and scheduled maintenance including PM’s and change overs. (Day shift is responsible for C/O. PMs are divided between all shifts)Complete FSR’s for change overs and PM’s (Day shift is responsible for C/O. PMs are divided between all shifts)Complete assigned work ordersSupport plant operations for any mechanical and/or electrical issuesComplete assigned improvement or special projects.Drive improvements to the production equipment.Rebuild any required parts.Accountable for all projects, repairs, and/or improvement on the equipment as well as any mold changes and maintaining preventative maintenance.Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.Improve the production equipment, utilities, efficiency and reliability.Recommend, plan, repair, modify, make, install and adjust all the necessary elements following a problem or a project, which may have an effect of the productivity.Review Visual management boards and address issues.Drive Process Control procedures.Ensure production equipment is performing to 87% company standard and addressing any deficiencies.Report to Maintenance Supervisor the progress of projects, general maintenance needs and improvements.Ensure needed parts are on site for upcoming PM’s.Assist in updating and developing and improving equipment PM programs.Communicate to supervisors on the condition of all production equipment.Assist in machine operation if need arises.Assist in maintaining appropriate stock of spare parts ensuring that parts catalogue is up-to-date room is organized and kept clean and tidy.Sign out parts from the spare parts cribRequest parts needed to complete repairs and replace stock.Assist contractors in machine and building repairsAssist other maintenance employees with repairs, PM, installation, commissioning and testing of equipment.Assist and train production employees in machine conversions and PM’sAssist with training operators and other maintenance co-workersDirect and advise production employees when they help with repairs.Ensures cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs of PM’s.Keep all tools in good and safe condition and ensure tools are returned to its appropriate location.Attend daily maintenance meeting

POSITION REQUIRMENTS:

Knowledge/Skills/Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.Ability to read, write and understand English.Job related experience for (2) two years minimumMastery of multiple pieces of equipment related to Injection Molding, Blow Molding and Extrusion Molding.Electro mechanic or mechanical certification preferredMust be able to effectively train personnel.Must be able to use basic hand and power tools.Must be able to use electronic test equipment.Must possess an interest in and an aptitude for mechanics, electronics, and electrical.Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.Ability to operate and functionally use a computerMust be able to work at heightsMust be able to obtain required equipment certification such as PIT, Genie BoomIndustrial Certificate preferred but not requiredSupplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties.  This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, air tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools, and specialty tools needed for specific job tasks in blow molding, injection, and mold repair / maintenance.  Must also supply own toolbox to adequately secure tools

Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety.Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate safety, quality, machine problems, and breakdowns to Production Lead, Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working condition or job environment.Authority to stop any observed unsafe practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, head protection, hearing protection, cut resistant gloves and high visibility clothing. Other required PPE is task specific.  GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of 12 hours a day, the ability to lift up to 5 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis, and the ability to perform work that is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis.
