Imaging Patient Care Specialist II

Description:

The Imaging Patience Care Specialist II provides patient reception to services within the Medical Imaging department by obtaining and recording biographic and insurance/billing information at the time of service, ordering the correct imaging procedure in a timely manner and providing a healing and supportive environment for our customers while in our care.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical setting is required.

Required to have cross-trained to work in a minimum of two other Radiology support areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Assists Training and auditing of other Registrars. 

Completes timely insurance verification of required accounts and accurately documents accounts as required by position assignment.

Coordinates inpatient imaging services with the imaging modality.

Performs accurate and timely entry of patient charges and daily charge audit activities as defined by work process.

Assists in completing the staff schedules as needed.

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of and complies with regulations for HIPAA, MSP, JCAHO and any other Government regulations required of Registration staff.

Works department reports and does timely entry of department benchmarking metrics as defined by supervisor.

Covers other positions within medical imaging areas as appropriate; to include modality assistance, file room responsibilities, and physician administrative liaison.

Completes reports as required by modality service areas or imaging department.

Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.

Maintains general billing knowledge and can assist the patient with financial assistance questions and general contact information for billing inquiries.

Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work and maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.

Demonstrates excellent professional interaction skills with patients and staff. Fosters and creates a cooperative teamwork environment.

Ability to work with a wide variety of people under adverse conditions.

Demonstrated leadership skills, independent problem solving, and decision-making abilities and has the ability to use critical thinking skills.
