As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. **Job Information** Department: MRI Location: Sharp Memorial Hospital - 7901 Frost St. San Diego Job Type: Per Diem Work Shift: Variable - This position is eligible for PM Shift Differential of $2.25 or Night Shift Differential of $2.75 for eligible hours worked. **What You Will Do** Assist with completing Imaging Center procedures including transportation and monitoring patients to and from, as well as during Imaging Center procedures. Provide receptionist and clerical support to Imaging Technologists. **Required Qualifications** + AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED **Preferred Qualifications** + H.S. Diploma or Equivalent + 1 Year Experience with patient care. **Essential Functions** + Communication/Clerical SkillsPrior to exam, confirm patient is ready.Communicate scheduled times, preparation and related information to the technologist, nurse and patient.Ability to answer phone calls, triage and prioritize patient flow.Ability to document accurate phone messages and notification to appropriate personnel.Communicate and document equipment issues.Utilize AIDET. + Patient transportsPerform two patient identification and exam verification.Effective utilize patient transport system.Provide appropriate mode of transport for patient's physical limitations and imagining procedure requirements.Obtain proper handoff including any required documentation from patient's RN just prior to leaving the department.Perform proper handoff to technologist and nursing staff when patient arrives in the Imagining department or back to.Observe and maintain a safe environment for patient's medical devices IV's, catheters, drainage and chest tubes, monitors and oxygen.Provide safe and timely transportation to and from Imagining department.Maintain privacy, dignity, respect and comfort to patient during transportation.Communicate patient status, isolation and safety precautions with Imaging and nursing staff. + Assist imaging proceduresAssist with patient mobilization before, during and after procedure.Observe patients during procedures to maintain a safe environment, documenting and/or communicate changes in patient's condition to appropriate nursing and/or Imaging staff.Transfer specimens with proper identification and safety precaution to correct location. + Interpersonal skillsDemonstrates positive interpersonal skills and attitude towards the department as well as patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers and supervisors.The employee's attitude will be evaluated upon his/her ability to demonstrate the following skills.Communicate in all personal and telephone interactions in order to create a positive public image and harmonious work environment.Employ active listening skills.Use nontechnical communication as appropriate.Speak clearly and graciously at a moderate pace.Check for feedback as to whether the communication (instructions, directions, tc.) was understood.Uses an adult to adult tone of voice.Support the goals and direction of the Imaging Center.Participate in the implementation of change.Identify problems with suggestions for their resolution.Accept constructive criticism. + TeamworkAssist coworkers with tasks.Maintains safe work environment.Sharing available resources and information with others.Assists with training, orientation and upholding policies and procedures to new employees or those new to the area.Identifies, corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.Accepts interpersonal differences and cooperates with other employees.Effectively utilize free time between assignments to complete the following tasks: Stocking supplies/linens in work area, cleaning work area, assisting coworkers with the completion of work. Provide relief for lunch, breaks and/or meetings.Identify and complete additional projects and/or educational In-services outside of daily responsibilities. + PACS and EMR utilization and BillingAbility to schedule all Imaging Procedure in EMR.Ability to communicate appropriate preparation information to patients.Accurately completes exams in EMR.Able to scan required documents into PACS, as needed.Understanding of PACS down-time procedures.Submit images and requests to after-hours service provider when applicable.Accurately enters billing information for supplies and procedures. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + Prefer knowledge of body mechanics for safe transfer of patient and self.
