Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to compound and admix medications under the supervision of a physician. The ideal candidate will have experience in oncology and chemotherapy medications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
ResponsibilitiesCompound or admix medications as prescribed by a physician.Verify patient information and ensure proper physician authorization.Check all orders for insurance approval before admixing.Admix drugs accurately and timely per department guidelines and OSHA regulations.Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.Maintain indigent patient drug program as assigned.Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.Maintain current drug information and MSDS sheets.Properly dispose of all materials used in mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.Clean hood daily or as per policy and procedures.Log and date all drugs being used, checking monthly for outdates and quality assurance.Keep accurate temperature logs and logs for protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers.Complete inventory control of medications, receiving, and shelving medications.Assist lead admixture technician in ensuring adequate drug supplies in all departments.Prepare labels, file, and prepare billing.Perform efficient data entry into pharmacy and admixture systems.Order medication and supplies as directed.Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and pharmacy department to minimize particle counts and improve overall sanitation.Essential SkillsPharmacy technician certification (CPhT)3-5 years of experience mixing chemotherapy medicationExperience in compounding medicationOncology experienceAbility to lift 40 lbsHigh School DiplomaAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with inventory managementProficient in data entryDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsWork Environment
Work hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with no weekend shifts. The role involves working in a pharmacy environment, handling and preparing medications, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
