Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating, and updating patient information. The Phlebotomist II will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring the integrity of the specimens throughout the process.

ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand and follow all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place samples in the appropriate collection containers/tubes.Follow specific procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsProficiency in blood draw, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.Certified Phlebotomist.Experience in a fast-paced lab, ambulatory setting, or hospital setting.High draw volume experience.Newborn/pediatric draw experience.Active IL phlebotomy certification.Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience performing venipunctures.Additional Skills & QualificationsBilingual in Spanish is a plus.Work Environment

The position requires the ability to float with varied hours to cover multiple locations, including Gurnee (home base), Waukegan, North Chicago, Highland Park, Round Lake Beach, Zion, Libertyville, Deerfield, Kenosha, Hayward, Lake Forest, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, and Lake Bluff. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays from 8am to 8pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
