Exciting Opportunity for Family Practice/Internal Medicine Physicians!

Job Title: Family Practice / Internal Medicine Physician

Location: VA

Job Type: Locum Tenens

Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing

Duration: 13 weeks with an option to extend

Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Description:

Amergis is seeking a dedicated Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide acute care, infirmary, and emergency medicine services in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide professional medical care and medication management to inmates with assistance from nursing staff Diagnose and treat acute health care problems, such as illnesses, infections, or injuries Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, value, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy Manage a daily patient volume of 10 to 12 patients a day Utilize paper charting for medical records Collaborate with over 20 RNs and a few mid-levels, with additional state physicians handling call and oversight

Requirements:

Valid DEA and BLS certifications VA State License (no licensure candidates, but BE will be considered) Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

Additional Information:

Provides comprehensive primary care, acute care, and emergency medical services No on-call or callback duties

Interview Process:

Phone interview On-site shadowing for orientation Onboarding requirements typically taking 2 to 3 weeks
