Overview We are seeking a full-time Immigration Counsel in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leveraging legal subject matter knowledge in providing guidance on all related matters, projects, and litigation. Essential Functions Apply knowledge of law to advise on legal rights and obligations Research applicable laws, regulations and rulings Prepare/review contracts and other legal documents Obtain/analyze all relevant information in order to advise on and provide accurate legal advice Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with other members of the Legal Department and with members of other Garmin departments Immigration Review/coordinate with Human Resources on immigration eligibility documents for potential immigration cases, including green card eligibility in the EB-1, EB-2 or EB-3 preference category and H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, TN, etc. qualifications Manage audits and responses to requests for evidence Prepare/file documentation with respect to visa transfers and all others associated with the permanent residency process Advise internal clients with respect to all pending/active immigration matters Monitor/apprise the Legal Department and other business partners on relevant legislation, regulations, case law and provide proactive, strategic advice on such matters Develop company immigration policies/procedures as well as guide their successful implementation Provide guidance to Garmin foreign nationals and families on their non-immigrant and immigration cases Train/supervise team members within Garmin Legal assigned to assist Oversee outside immigration counsel Communicate clearly/effectively on immigration requirements, government procedures, and case processing times to Human Resources, associates and business leaders Provide immigration training and guidance to Garmin associates/managers Assist with outreach to government/agency leaders on immigration policies/priorities Assist with secondments and inter-company transfers Represent Garmin and its associates in USCIS interviews Basic Qualifications Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school or a recognized European law school or Asian law school in the case of EMEA Counsel or Asia Counsel, respectively For U.S. based positions, admission to the applicable state bar in the location of employment Excellent undergraduate and law school academic record Minimum of 1 year experience performing the essential functions of position as either an in-house attorney or private practice attorney Demonstrate knowledge of Garmin’s business and products Demonstrate an aptitude to learn/effectively apply legal knowledge in the business context Demonstrate strong and effective communication skills Demonstrate organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
