Position Summary: The Import Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the importation process, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and maintaining cost-effectiveness. This role involves collaboration with suppliers, logistics providers, and internal departments to guarantee timely delivery of goods. This position will be responsible for expanding and building the West Marine Import program. Primary Responsibilities: • Freight Forwarder (3PL) Program Management • Import/Export Operations • Import/Merchandising Planning • Strategy Development • Program Development • Trade Compliance/Customs/Clearance • Cost, Price and Risk Assessments • Communicating/Relationship Building/Reporting/Training Education, Experience & Skills: Minimum education required/preferred, area of study: • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field • Licensed Broker (preferred) Minimum years of relevant experience required: • 10 years with 5+ of those years in a retail environment Additional skills/knowledge required include: • Experience building best in class import programs • SLI, CI, IMDG Experience • Classification Experience • Experience establishing Free Trade Zones • Strong organization and analytical skills • Background in all relevant software and technology
