Job Description & Summary: A career in Office of General Counsel, within Internal Firm Services, will provide you with the opportunity to be a part of the Firm’s legal department by providing dedicated legal support in the areas of litigation, counselling, and corporate, commercial, and employment law. You’ll play an important part in all aspects of regulatory proceedings involving the Firm and its personnel by supporting on regulatory issues, advising the Firm on matters relating to its operations, supporting the Firm’s client contracting function, and advising on matters related to employees.
The Legal Manager will play a pivotal role within the Office of the General Counsel, primarily focusing on managing pending litigations, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, performing factual analysis, and developing strategic legal approaches. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
We require a highly skilled and experienced Statutory Compliance Manager to oversee and manage the applicable statutory compliances. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of India, Nepal and Bangladesh local laws and regulations, exceptional interpretation skills, and proficiency in using compliance management tools. The ideal candidate will have a full-time LLB degree, hands-on experience in independently handling compliances, and a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. As a key member responsible for managing the compliances, s/he will ensure that the firm adheres to all relevant and applicable legal requirements and maintains high standards of compliance. Additional responsibility will be to provide wing to wing legal and contracting support to various Internal Firm Services of the firm.
Responsibilities:
Compliance Management:
Complete responsibility for the implementation and operation of compliance management and to ensure firm’s adherence to all applicable India, Nepal and Bangladesh laws and regulations.To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of compliance processes and recommend improvements.Regularly maintain and update statutory requirements and legal obligations, on a pan-India basis of both state and central laws that are applicable to the firm and with all applicable laws for offices in Nepal and Bangladesh.Ensure that the compliance tool is up to date and all changes are correctly mapped at all times.Legal Research and Analysis:
Conduct thorough legal research to stay informed about changes in laws and regulations in India,Nepal and Bangladesh.Analyse the applicability of all laws and regulations to the firm and ensure compliance.Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain accurate compliance documentation.Monthly analysis of compliances and reporting to users/functional leaders and getting the same rectified.Generate various reports on a regular basis for sharing with Senior Management team and for various Board / DP level meetings.Develop and maintain compliance checklists and templates using Microsoft Excel and Word.Ensure timely reporting to functional leaders and ensure handholding to various users of the Compliance Insights Tool.Advisory and Support:
Provide expert legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders / various users on compliance-related matters.Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees.Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance across the firm.Act as a compliance resource and mentor to team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.Risk Management:
Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Conduct regular self-compliance audits and assessments to ensure adherence to legal standards.Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and industry associations as required.Represent OGC function in compliance-related discussions with various stakeholders, including the Internal Auditors.Mandatory skill sets:
