Summary

The Railcar Inspector Assistant is responsible for collecting and digitizing data such as repair estimates, billing, and reports to facilitate maintenance and qualification of railcars and/or railcar components into our electronic storage system, updating existing entries, and organizing hard copies of information appropriately.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Inputs daily editsInputs arrivals and releases into Rail Management SystemRoutes outbound railcarsSubmits updates to Rail Link including but not limited to air brake tests, repairs complete, DDTC incidents, EHMS detectorsCommunicates and collaborates professionally; verbally, in writing, and on the telephone

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

 

Minimum Qualifications

6 months of experience in a clerical role or railcar repair or a combination of bothProficient in computer software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Visio, Intelex, Entrust, SysproAbility to work within a team environment and communicate professionally, clearly, and concisely, both verbally and in writingAbility to organize and prioritize projects and information with accurate turnaround under tight timeframesAbility to follow oral and written instructions (including basic blueprints and schematics)

Preferred Qualifications

High School diploma; knowledge of transportation regulations.
