As the IMI (Incoming Materials Inspection) Supervisor, you are responsible for the overall results for a single shift of a 7-day, multi-shift laboratory operation that implements, maintains, and executes the receipt, sampling and testing of incoming materials for production (raw ingredients and packaging material commodities).
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Drive a culture of engagement; developing the IMI lab personnel; champion positive employee relations; maintain a high-profile presence in the lab; model regular and open communications; and encourage knowledge sharing and the open exchange of ideas.Maintain contact with the vendors who supply these materials, keeping track of vendor performance, dispositioning nonconforming materials and vendor (CAPA) for all nonconformances, and communicating into Abbott Division teams. Secure appropriate training; assures completion of required training per training manual; ongoing computer-based training; assures new hire personnel are properly trained in procedures, test methods, and safety practices.Direct liaison with suppliers, Global Supplier Quality Assurance (GSQA) and Regional Incoming Quality Assurance (RIQA). Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with vendors, tracking vendor performance and address any performance issues with the vendor and following up on vendor corrective actions. Works directly with GSQA, and RIQA on vendor issues.Supervise technicians to assure timely and accurate receipt, sampling and testing of incoming materials and maintains adequate production support.Model behaviors that support a continuously improving EHS (Environmental, Health, Safety) culture by engaging with employee, coach and direct individuals to deliver EHS performance for themselves, their team and department.Model behaviors that ensure delivery of high-quality products for our customers while maintaining compliance with Abbott, division, and plant policies and procedures; meet all local and statutory requirements and adhere to the regulatory requirements of countries to which products are shipped. Provide leadership and technical expertise during problem-solving situations related to raw material and material performance issues.Anticipate and drive proper alignment and prioritization between the lab, and production teams.Supervise the coordination of material Holds, and isolations.Ensure compliance with all HR practices, policies, and procedures.Ensure delivery of effective performance management while establishing and sustaining a positive work environment.Track destructs for raw ingredients and packaging commodities monthlyAdditional responsibilities include: troubleshooting, project work, procedure reviews, technician performance reviews, and input to lab budget planning/management, lead efforts required to deliver quality and compliance performance for the teamREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5 years’ experience in a laboratory in a regulated industry; such as food or pharma, and 1 year of appropriate college science with lab studies, and 1 year of college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus) OR Bachelors Degree in science, technical, food science, chemistry, biologyLeadership experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
