Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN) - Manager, with focus on Engagement Matters
Position Summary

As a Manager in our Engagement Consultation team, you’ll be on the cutting edge of regulatory compliance, focusing on auditor independence rules and their impacts on the professional services environment.  In your consultative role, you’ll help Deloitte engagement teams to deliver services to our clients while complying with regulations. Work you’ll do 

In this role, you’ll use your research and investigative skills to analyze services to and relationships with clients in light of independence requirements.  This will include:

Working closely with Partners, Principals, Managing Directors (PPMDs) and Senior Managers both within ICN and within Deloitte’s service lines.  You’ll also interact with leadership, such as  Lead Client Service Partners, Professional Practice Directors, and other client service teams to understand and provide guidance on a variety of engagement-related independence matters, such as: Services to and relationships with clients, both within and outside the U.S.Matters arising from client mergers and acquisitions or from client IPOsReviewing client corporate or investment structures, investment interests and the terms of an investment to identify affiliates, as defined in the independence rules Performing research and analysis, drafting conclusions and communications, and strategizing on next steps in coordination with senior team members. Developing an enhanced understanding of the intricacies of AICPA, SEC and PCAOB independence rules and Deloitte US Firms Independence policiesInterpreting and implementing new and existing regulations relating to permissible non-attest services for the Deloitte US entities, and providing advice and guidance to client-facing teamsParticipating in policy setting by performing research and drafting communications aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of current, new, or changing independence rulesCreating and revising training courses and materials to address rule changes and new interpretations of existing rules identified during consultations with regulators.Working on special projects both independently and collaboratively with PPMDs and engagement teams, involving senior members for input as necessary.  These may include leading or supporting engagement independence inspections, which may involve analyzing and assessing specific services and relationships for compliance with policies and regulations, identifying and/or developing leading practices, areas for improvement, and causal factors

The team
The Engagement Consultation team within Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN) performs a critical consultation and risk-management function for the Deloitte US Firms, protecting Deloitte from conflicts of interest and keeping the Deloitte US Firms independent, objective, and impartial, in fact and appearance, when providing services to attest/audit clients and their affiliates. Independence requirements are defined by specific sets of policies, external rules, and regulations, so maintaining independence is essential to the business and reputation of Deloitte.

Qualifications
Required:

Bachelors’ degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)5 - 8+ years of related experience, ideally in a compliance role and within a professional services environmentProficient in the use of standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)Limited immigration sponsorship may be availableAbility to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firmsExperience in regulatory compliance and/or analysis and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standardsExperience in public accountingKnowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standardsU.S. CPA and/or advanced degree in related areas such as finance, accounting, business, or law

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,000-$191,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
