Work you’ll do  

Our Independence Engagement Consultation team plays a key role in the way Deloitte serves its clients, and we work across all industries and countries, with both audit clients and non-audit clients. It’s about listening to and understanding our clients’ needs in order to provide an outstanding experience.  You’ll stretch and develop yourself as you research and analyze services to and relationships with our clients, because there are no “off-the-shelf” solutions.  In your daily role, you’ll work with engagement teams and partners related to Deloitte’s Multi-Disciplinary Model (“MDM”) and how to bring the breadth of services that Deloitte has to offer while complying with the PCAOB, SEC, IESBA, and AICPA independence rules. You’ll have the opportunity to work on team projects (such as ISQM1) and on cross-team projects (e.g., across Deloitte functions and with Deloitte independence teams across the globe). You may also lead engagement independence inspections, where you will analyze and assess specific services and relationships for compliance with policies and regulations, and you’ll identify and develop leading practices and education for engagement teams to leverage.

The successful candidate will possess:  

Excellent business acumen and client management, time management, listening skills and prioritization skills Excellent ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and empathetically in both oral and written form Deep experience collaborating with various stakeholders in high focus, time-sensitive situations Willingness to interact live (primarily virtually) with various teams and to collaborate with an array of professionals daily Ability to organize and lead relationships and interactions on complex, nuanced, and significant matters with remote teams   Ability to problem-solve and think critically to quickly identify issues, evaluate their risk implications, and draw the appropriate conclusions 

The team 
The Independence Engagement Consultation team is one of the teams within Deloitte’s Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN). Our team is a critical consultative and risk-management function for the Deloitte US Firms, protecting Deloitte from conflicts of interest and keeping the Deloitte US Firm independent while responding to client needs and desires in today’s fast-paced world. We are analyzing the newest offerings (such as GenAI, ESG, and Blockchain) from the perspective of the independence rules to bring the breadth of Deloitte’s capabilities to our clients in a permissible manner. 

Qualifications
Required:

Bachelors’ degree in accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal 8+ years of related experience Proficient in the use of standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.) Demonstrate interest and effectiveness in research, including issues relating to new regulations, speeches, industry practices, and technologies. Confidence in providing comments on resulting independence concerns, and recommendations regarding re-scoping services to meet client needs while complying with independence rules Demonstrate experience with and knowledge of internal controls, as well as an understanding of general information technology controls (“GITC’s”), business process controls, internal control risk management, and related regulatory and compliance standards Experienced in public accounting Limited immigration sponsorship may be availableAbility to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firmsExperience in applying the PCAOB, SEC, and AICPA independence rules at a national accounting firm Experience in regulatory compliance and/or analysis and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standards Have a breadth of experience across the span of non-attest services and Deloitte’s lines of business (e.g., Consulting, Advisory, Tax, Audit, etc.) Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards U.S. CPA and/or advanced degree in related areas such as finance, accounting, business, or law

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is $118,700-$243,700.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
