HDR is looking for an Indiana Environmental Team Leader to help us grow our environmental practice in Indiana, and to join our Indianapolis office. We’re looking for a person who wants to take their NEPA and permitting skills to the next level by directing medium-large size projects, leading and mentoring younger staff, preparing proposals and developing clients. If you have prior experience working on projects with Indiana DOT and/or Illinois DOT, that is a plus.
The ideal candidate knows the Indiana transportation market, understands Indiana DOT NEPA processes, has knowledge of Indiana regulatory agencies and permitting requirements, and can demonstrate public participation and agency coordination experience. This Senior level candidate would also help develop proposals and contract fees, manage projects or environmental tasks including scope, budget and schedule, and guide less experienced staff to task completion. The position will require client and stakeholder meetings and site visits.
As our Indianapolis office is one of several HDR offices in the Indiana and Illinois area, you must be able to work with colleagues in other locations, and you’ll also have opportunities to work with other HDR offices across the country on exciting projects Some periodic, out of state travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred but not required. Experienced in local agency roadway projects, such as for a county or municipality. Pre-qualified by INDOT to prepare Categorical Exclusions Pre-qualified in at least one INDOT environmental category (besides CE or EIS) Experienced in preparing permit applications, including Section 404, Section 401, and NPDES#LI-MV3
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related fieldA minimum of 10 years technical and/or field experience in complex environmental planning projectsProficiency with MS Office SuiteSelf-starter with excellent writing and communication skillsStrong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilitiesTechnical and/or field experience dealing with environmental impact issues, associated permit processes and documentation preparation/reviewAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
