Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Corporate Tax Group. We are seeking an Indirect Tax Expert. The candidate must have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, able to build strong working relationships within our team and across the business through effective verbal and written communication. This position will be responsible for all aspects of various indirect taxes in US and Canada including sales and use, motor fuel and agronomy taxes.

Responsibilities Review taxability of the products and services offered by the CompanyResearch and apply tax statutes and regulations to ensure complianceIndependently research and resolve indirect tax questions from internal departments as well as external tax jurisdictionsManage complex indirect tax auditsPrepare indirect tax returns that require applicable level of expertiseRespond to inquiries and resolve notices/assessments from taxing jurisdictions and regulatory agenciesPerform internal audit of purchase transactions to ensure sales and use tax accuracy, work with the business units to correct issues, and identify refund opportunitiesReview and oversee the indirect tax compliance prepared by external provider(s)Review licensing requirements and complete applications and renewalsDevelop, improve, and streamline end-to-end indirect tax compliance processesParticipate as the Indirect Tax subject matter expert in various Finance and Company-Wide projectsConsult and provide advice to internal personnel (business units, corporate development, finance, shared services) on acquisitions, divestitures, and expansion projectsMinimum Qualifications (required) Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field7+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Tax AccountingAdditional Qualifications CPA certificationMaster of Business TaxationTax Experience in Agriculture and/or Oil and Gas industryKnowledge of JDE and SAPKnowledge of Avalara AvaTax, Avalara Returns Excise, or comparable productsProficient in MS ExcelExperience with tax research software such as CCH and RIA CheckpointSubject matter expertise in tax accountingExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalDetail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and qualityExcellent interpersonal and customer relations skills

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
