Industrial Automation Engineer
Join our innovative team as a Solution Engineer and be involved in every aspect of the development of automatic cranes! 

In this role, you will be one of the department's automation specialists. Your tasks range from designing, programming, and testing software in the office and at client locations worldwide. The Cranes team works on sophisticated projects, integrating a diversity of systems like automation and subsystem software, S7 PLCs, HMI systems, PC networks, virtualization, and cyber security topics. A typical project lasts 1 to 2 years and is realized with development/design in Holland & Germany, followed by pre-commissioning in China and finalized at the end customer location. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of developing and following the standard methodologies within the engineering process.
A typical day starts with a standup meeting. After that, you and a colleague discuss tackling a programming issue you have in your PLC program. Until lunch, you work on the PLC part for one of the workflows from the crane. Next on the schedule is testing your colleague's PLC program against a simulator and checking if all the required functionality works. In collaboration with your colleague, you ensure your findings are correct and precisely reported in the Jira application. All is ready for the next standup meeting tomorrow!
Responsibilities include:Design and prepare integrated software solutions to connect with various subsystems according to the requirements;Perform integral function tests and acceptance tests together with the client;Actively participate in the development of automation solutions for harbor cranes;Defining the best suitable products, components, and systems to be used and their characteristics;Tracking, documenting, evaluating the development and building progress.About SiemensSiemens Cranes offers state-of-the-art software and hardware solutions, providing a customized platform for highly digitalized harbors. Your success is grounded inYour passion for technology combines with your ability to communicate and collaborate in a team with various disciplines and duties. You like working in an international environment. Taking initiative comes naturally to you, and task management skills are integral to your work ethic.A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in (Technical) Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent;Experience in/knowledge of industrial automation;Troubleshooting skills in root cause analysis;Proven experience with TIA Portal;Ability to write clear and concise documentation (such as requirements, design and testing procedures);Business proficient in English.Willingness to travel for work (approximately two periods of 4 weeks yearly)
