Overview
The ideal candidate will have an eye on the bottom line, a passion for optimizing technology and processes to produce the highest quality products, and a concern for the welfare of our manufacturing team.
This position will collect and analyze data on processes, production, downtime and waste to identify opportunities to optimize efficiencies, productivity and quality for a known brand with worldwide reach.
They will also drive 5S+1, CI and Lean for the plant.
Responsibilities
Monitoring operations: Evaluates operations with a keen eye toward optimizing productivity and efficiency.Analyzes data to identify technological improvements in production processes.Works with production supervisors to establish realistic KPIs and production standards.Reviews production schedules, processes, and specifications. Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues.Ensuring safety: Has a high level of diligence with safety regulations. Ensures that work processes are safe and works closely with the EHS supervisor to address safety issues and concerns. Reducing waste: Designs production layouts and processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and eliminate waste while maintaining quality standards.Identifies material rework and waste reduction opportunities, and addresses production issues.Works closely with the quality supervisor to ensure that processes are designed to produce products that meet quality standards. Evaluating employee responsibilities: Assesses employees' tasks and responsibilities to identify ways to improve productivity.Works with supervisors to develop instruction manuals for production personnel.Provides training to operators and mechanics on machine operation for optimization of production.Supporting cap-ex projects: Identifies capital projects that will reduce costs, eliminate safety risks and/or identify imminent failure of production equipment.Reviews new equipment plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with engineers at corporate headquarters.Develops costing estimates and project implementation schedules, and drives projects to completion on site by effectively managing internal and external resources. Supporting repair work: Partners with the Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate major repairs and maintenance; installation/removal of machines and equipment; and to ensure work is completed correctly, efficiently, and on time. Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop maintenance procedures and schedules.Supports further implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Integrating systems: Devises efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy.Other Duties as required.Qualifications
BS in Industrial Engineering or related field such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering required.A minimum of two years’ experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment.Strong aptitude for equipment technology and capex project identification and implementation.Six Sigma Lean Green Belt, Kaizen, CI and 5S+1 experience strongly desired.Able to lift and carry up to 40-pounds, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and work at heights as needed.Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards in high-volume manufacturing and/or with lumber/millwork.High level of experience with scanner technology, sensors, hydraulics, conveyors, belts, dust collection technology, and fire suppression technology.Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints for existing equipment and to implement new equipment.Knowledge of European machinery, metric system and Euro-drives is preferredFamiliarity with PLC, HMI, and VFD drives is preferred Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, and experience using computer-aided design (CAD) platforms.The rate of pay for this position begins at an annualized salary of $88,000 (for a 40-hour work week) + benefits.
